Gf With Toddlers

We are planning our 1st trip and booked the Poly. Every time I get on this site I head to the GF pages, though. I am just wondering what those with toddlers think of the GF? Transportation, Dining, Pools, etc. I am debating on making the switch. Please give me any help you can! Happy Holidays to all reading this!!!

We stayed at the GF twice - once when DS was 3.

I do love it there, very much, but there are pros and cons.

Pros: monorail, nice rooms, lots of dining choices, nice pool (cabana rentals only there!)

Cons: if you aren't in the main building, it is slightly spread out. So you may have a little walk to the main building, monorail, counter service food... Also, it does cost more than some Disney resorts of course!

With a toddler, definitely having your own stroller is a must!

We found we prefer being on the Boardwalk, first time when my DD was 2. The kids found so much to explore in Epcot, and it is so relaxing and seems less crowded than MK. It was convenient to walk back or take the boat, and not be in a resort with multiple buildings. We do enjoy taking the kids to MK in the morning, but it is usually getting crowded by lunchtime or later, so then we'd take a break and swim/nap, then go to Epcot for the afternoon. We don't make it more than 2 or 3 hours (if eating) at MK.

I've never stayed at the Poly, but lived in Hawaii, so it doesn't appeal to me.

I stayed there when DD was 2 and she loved it. The beach next to the zero entry pool was a huge hit. She also loved the kiddie pool. Surprisingly her favorite thing was the piano player in the lobby. She loved to wear her princess dress and play with the other little girls who came dressed as princesses for the 1900 Park Fare dinner. We also took her to breakfast with tigger and pooh though she was probably too young. Being on the monorail right near the MK makes the whole vacation easier.

Bring a stroller - if your child falls asleep in the MK, you can roll the stroller straight from the MK, on to the monorail and back to your room without ever having to move your child. That part is worth its weight in gold.

Go for it if your gut is telling you to! We did it last year with 3 year old twins and it was perfect for us.

GF is great for toddlers especially since you have the character breakfast right in the main building and the monorail is easily accesible for anyone staying in any of the buildings in the GF. The monorail is great for easy access to Epcot, MK, CR or Poly. Also, GF has great activities for toddlers.

Both hotels are great for toddlers. I'd say pick the one you want to stay at. If you want to stay at GF, you should. One is not enough better than the other (other than personal preference) to matter. You're going to have a great vacation.

Thanks! I am going to talk to my TA about switching to the GF! Can always do Poly when our kids are older.
