We sent our money a month ago for this purchase and still don't have access to the points. That's just wrong!
How long ago you sent your money is irrelevant. Disney doesn't get involved until the transfer has closed and is recorded by the county. So you'll have to talk to your broker and find out exactly when the paperwork was forwarded to Disney.

I don't know if any maximum turnaround time is specifically dictated by law. You could contact the Florida Department of Condos & Timeshares to see what they have to say.

If Disney's turnaround ever did slip to more than a month, they may come under scrutiny. But I doubt that oversight officials would bat an eye at 2 weeks.

Not the case with our recent resale. It took about 21 days from contract signing to points in account.

Blaming Disney in these cases was easy and most buyers would never know who caused the delays.

I do know that Disney is taking additional time now for providing the brokers with estoppal info, they wait almost 30 days for ROFR and they have changed their procedures and policies on setting up accounts, loading points and providing buyers with their account access info.

IMO Disney should not let their direct selling business conflict with their DVC managing business. New resale owners should be given a phone number by their broker, MS should take phone calls, welcome new members, explain the "club", and provide access to the information that a new owner/member needs.

DVC Members should not have to go to wonderful places like the DIS to get their membership info and answers to their membership questions. We pay Disney to provide that service, we don't pay the DIS.

I sent in my check and closing docs on the 7 th and the seller hasn't turned in theirs yet. I asked if there was a time limit on the sellers side she said 65 days from the effective date of the contract. Hope I don't have to wait that long. 😭

How did that happen? ROFR usually takes at least 25 days.

Do you mean from the time you signed your closing documents?

Oh my … 65 days is crazy. I would think the seller would want their money and be motivated by that. Could it be a problem with an estate or divorce where getting everyone to sign is a difficult process?

Resale sure saves money … but at this point I'm wondering if it's worth the cost of frustration I'm experiencing.

From what I understand she is widowed. She signed the contract in a timely manner. Keeping my fingers crossed that she signs soon. My first contract was direct so this is new to me.

It goes like this for Disney:

They are a highly metrics driven business. For example, they monitor every step in the process for buying food in the restaurants and make adjustments accordingly for efficiency and ultimately profits. Undoubtedly they have established processing goals for resale and direct DVC sales having their roots in maximizing profits. For example they could be saying that for direct it needs to be 1 day processing but 55 days is good enough for resale. Since resale is just moving piles of sand around with already sold points it has a much lower value to them than brand new sales. However, the resale market is necessary and can't be totally ignored to retain value in the new sales market so there is a profit-optimum processing time established for resale. Once that metric is set it it does them financial harm if they are not hitting it. Beating the metric is just as bad as missing the metric. By beating the metric they are investing too many resources and will and should pull back accordingly to hit it exactly.

Oh, no … any word on what is causing the delay?

We FINALLY received our points this week … took 21 days from deed showing on orange county site to seeing points in our account … this was a 2nd contract with same resort and UY as first … so it seemed a bit too long to have to wait… but I'm thankful we got in just in a knick of time to book within the home resort advantage period.

I got my closing docs on the 7th sent them back on same day and we are still waiting on seller to send in her docs. So we can't even close yet. I feel like things were moving along really well then came to a screeching halt for 2 weeks so far. I just want to book for next June.

Who is your broker? Have they called the seller to find out what the problem is?

Unfortunately, you will now miss the home resort window as the 7 month window has already opened up for next June.

You are taking this very well … better than I was … lol.

We jsut closed on a few. On our first resale, it was exactly 14 days after our deed was recorded.

On this most recent one, it was only about 8 days before they appeared on our existing account.

It was way more torturous than the ROFR wait imho.

I agree ROFR was annoying … but nearly everyone knows it's a 30 day wait.

Timeframe for adding points after closing seems totally arbitrary … and money has already been sent … so my expectation was that Disney should move a bit faster after closing to get accounts loaded with points.
