The Goofy Identity (Just whose side are you on anyway?) Updated 7/23/14-Pg9

The Goofy Identity

So, are we Disney fanatics…

or Double Agents for the Darkside…

“Now, just whose side are you on anyway?”

If you’ve read any of my past TRs, then you may think that you’ve got a pretty good idea of just who and/or what you’re dealing with.

If you’ve never read any of my past… ummmm… “works”… well then first off, you’re smarter than those other folks. That being said, you may want to give one or two of them a look see before committing any more of your valuable time (and you can get there by clicking on any of those links down there in my signature). Now the other thing that is true about being a member of this second group is that it places both you and I on equal footing…

…because it means that neither of us has any idea who I am.

I’ve got sketchy memories, mass quantities of photographs (though not necessarily good ones), an array of paraphernalia and even government issued IDs…

And collectively, these clues seem to indicate that I might be a devoted husband, dedicated father and a faithful if not outright fanatical Disney veteran. But in there among all that stuff there is also some potentially damming and contradictory evidence.

While the devoted husband bit of the story does seem to be a constant…

(which leads us to wonder about the lady’s sanity)

…there are also credible firsthand accounts of me traveling “The World” without nary a young’en in tow and even witnesses that can place me amongst the “Islands” and ‘Streets” of Orlando’s “Darkside”…

- You say you can prove that I’ve abandoned helpless children in unfamiliar surroundings?

- You say that I’ve traveled “off world”?… On Purpose!

- You say that I’m capable of leaving a Disney park… before closing time?

WHO THE HECK AM I?

That’s the mystery that appears to need solving here.

Or could it be that I am completely aware of my true identity…
that I was and still am in complete control of all of these events…
and you are the one who is being hornswoggled here?

Is it possible that I’m a secret agent or maybe even a double agent?

"Secret agent? On who's side?"

Could it be that simple?

Care to follow along and attempt to separate the truth from the fabrication…
to glean the factual details form the felonious misdirection…
to walk blindly through the smoke and face first smack into the mirrors?

Mind that first step there… ya’ hear?

Then have I got a bridge to sell… No, No, No…
I meant to say…
Have I got a Trip Report for you?

Well, have I?

It’s time for you to decide.

I am reporting for duty, sir. I have to clean a couple of things off my desk and head to the train. But I'll be back to read the beginning.

****Back. I loved your intro as always and can wait...I mean CAN'T wait for the TR to start rolling.

Well... I hope I get time to come back to this later today. If not, I guess I'll catch up when we get back home from our trip. All I have to say is that first picture is awesome!

Sign me up! Wait....maybe not. This seems like the sort of mission where a paper trail might not be warranted. Allow me to rephrase that.

"Quickly make eye contact across a crowded, smokey bar room. I'll give a quick nod so you know I'm in. Don't try to contact me further. I'll be in touch when the time is appropriate."

Ok, this TR update is starting to remind me of the Duck Dynasty episode in Hawaii.

It just doesn't have the same impact without that "movie trailer narrator guy" saying it.

Just the fact that you’re headed off on a trip is more then enough pain inflected.
Your duties as chief nemesis have been fulfilled.

Enjoy the time out and we’ll be here when you get back.
I believe you can count on that.

Oh, yah…

Mark!

Thanks to both Andy and you for the comment on the first picture.
That is probably the single best one that got taken and it certainly belongs in the spot of honor. It’s rare that my boy will let his hair down and play along (he’s just a might too reserved at times). Now, his buddy there will dive right into anything and pretty much at the drop of a hat, but all that will be made quite evident as this farce plays out across the next few pages.

Dude…
You know I have no sanity.
You point it out right regularly

And the Lady thanks you. She is wonderful.
Twenty-two years and she still hasn’t tossed me out the door.
From my standpoint, that’s wonderful.

I still ain’t sure what it says about her sanity, but it’s working in my favor.

That’s a show I never watch.
It might remind me of myself and no one needs that kind of trauma.

I may be a bit slow compared to some…
but they do get updated and even completed.
(something that not all DDC members can lay clam to)

Not committing to anything yet but willing to give this TR a try. Seems to have all the elements of a great adventure. Looking forward to it!

Hi Christine!

Commitments aren’t a requirement here.

Truth is, I’d be writing this up even if no one followed along (which is a posibility when we're talking about one of my TRs). But writing it up allows me to relive the magic and builds a tangible “album” of the adventure.

Giving me a chance is all I could ask.
And thanks for that chance.

I see that y’all are headed to the Food and Wine fest and staying at the BC while you at it. That should be quite the excursion. I’ll have to watch for your TR in the fall.
