I am debating whether to go and get some cash...

What are you guys doing?
I'm going in Dec as well but have decided to wait a little longer before getting our cash or paying for our WDW package.

Whether it's the right decision, only time will tell...

The prediction I got at work today from the money market guys was it looks like a steady decline to 92c in December. Due to cash flow dramas I've only started exchanging mine this week, but I've always said anything over 90c is a bonus so I'm not too upset about the drop.

My trip is September so I started to move some of my funds into US dollars yesterday (not everything I'm kind of sitting of the fence) and I paid for all my big ticket items this week.
Who knows if it will be right or wrong but the Aussie elections will not effect my trip as we leave the week after it.

I haven't but I really ought to. Darn this on-call casual work nonsense that isn't playing nice with me this year

Watching both of our dollars continue to slide is so depressing.

I was thinking of changing about $800 today and just worked out that it's going to cost me close to $50 more than it would have about a month ago.

Sorry Wanderlust.

The problem with playing currency converter is you don't know whether it will cost you $50 more or $50 less in another month's time!

Anyone have a crystal ball?

Exactly. I also need that crystal ball.

I can't really complain as I managed to pay for the majority of my trip while the dollar was really high. However, I check each day, waiting for it to start going back up again, but it just seems to be heading down. I took my chances and got $600 worth of Disney gift cards today just incase it continues to go downwards. I pretty much have all food and drink expenses sorted now, I just need to work out what I'm going to do about shopping money - convert to US $ asap or just put all shopping on the credit card and gamble with the exchange rate at the time of travel.

If you're carrying a credit card balance of any kind, esp with a 15%+ interest rate you may be better putting the money there for 7 months + depending on how far you feel the $$ will drop.

For example, this is really simple and I'm ignoring commissions because it's too hard at this time of night...

AU$1000 = US$935 - dollar drop to say 85 would be US$850, $85 less than today.

Credit card interest at 15% over 7 months = $1000 * 15% / 12 * 7 = $87.50

Aaah to have a crystal ball.
