I loved that cartoon when I was younger and I still do! ^^
For those who forgot, the Wuzzles were a toyline that Disney created in the mid-'80s. Amidst vehicles that turned into robots and horses with flank tattoos, this line had a very imaginative gimmick. It was that the characters were two animals in one, notable examples being Bumblelion (bee/lion), Eleroo (elephant/kangaroo), Butterbear (butterfly/bear) and Rhinokey (rhino/monkey). I'm obsessed with this line, mostly because of its gimmick. ^^ Feel free to share your memories of it here and mention which of the toys you had or may still have.

My daughter loved these guys too
I remember the Wuzzles. My daughter loved this era of the "Disney Afternoon". I'll have to text her tonight when she gets off work to see if she remembers some other ones. I remember that Joanne Worley from "Laugh-in" and more recently the voice of the Wardrobe in Beauty & the Beast was a half rabbit / half hippo. I'm not sure of her name but it was something like Hoppypotamus. My daughter had a couple story books that I must have read to her a hundred times.

I remember! I had a couple of stuffed animals - Rhineokey (sp?) and Bumblelion. I think Bumblelion was my favorite. I loved him to death. :D

I loved the Wuzzles! I had a Wuzzle book that I had read to me every night. I wonder if I still have it someplace.

I *LOVE* WUZZLES!!!!!!
I'm a child of the '80s so I grew up on them. I have all the plushes. Well, all but the RARE ones. I have the main characters: Eleroo, Butterbear, Hoppopotamus, Moozel, Bumblelion, Rhinokey. The rare ones that I know of are: Tycoon, Piggypine, Koalakeet, Pandeaver. I also have a not-so-legal copy of the whole series on DVD. I found it at a con I went to. I decided to get it because I'm not expecting Disney to ever release it on DVD. sailorstitch ETA: Did a little web searching and found these.... http://www.ghostofthedoll.co.uk/Toys_Wuzzles_Plush.htm http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/The_Wuzzles Last edited by sailorstitch; 02-24-2013 at 08:43 PM. |

The thing that always blows my mind about "The Wuzzles" is that apparently there were only twelve-fifteen episodes ever made. It's crazy to think that such a huge part of my childhood was so short-lived.
And not a single one of those episodes addressed why they all, regardless of hybridized species, have those little fairy wings. That's still the greatest unsolved mystery of my childhood, though I'm sure, like so many weird Disney things of that time period, the answer boils down to, "Because Michael Eisner."

I loved the Wuzzles.
But the name reminds me of the Hefamlumps and Woozles(spelling) which I did NOT love and was terrified of anytime I'd see that from Winnie the Pooh. But long live the Wuzzles! |
