Any Knitters out there?

Hi all! Any fellow knitters? Looking for some Disney themed/inspired patterns for hats, scarfs, fingerless gloves, etc. I'm not skilled enough to do sweaters! Would love to find Minnie patterns.

Hello fellow knitter! I've met a few other DISknitters on these board but found that most knit-chat happens over on Ravelry.com. It's also a great place to search for patterns all over the web, including MM ones. Hopefully you'll be able to find what you're looking for there.

Knitter here, although I spend a lot more time thinking about knitting than actually knitting. I took January off after my annual Christmas burnout! If you find a picture you like, print it with graph paper in your printer and voila, you have a pattern!

I second the ravelry.com as a place to find patterns. I also (and cannot for the life of me find my bookmark now) have taken pictures and charted it to make a pillow.

I'm playing with the idea of coming up with a Mickey cable chart, if there isn't one out there already.

I'm just starting, I can only knit in straight lines so far
I learnt when I was young but forgot how to until recently when a friend started it up again. She tried to teach me but I just couldn't get it, then watched some vids on youtube and taught myself from there.
Would love to knit sweaters etc though!

Iris, I've been knitting for ten years and I still prefer to knit hats and scarves! I don't mind knitting the sweaters, but I don't like finishing them! I have at least three that are completely knitted but I just can't bring myself to attach the sleeves. I hate that part!!!

It's the sleeve part that scares me. I'm still making my way through my kids and their friends though, then there are all the dollies/teddies who will need a scarf

I agree Ravelry.com is the place to look!! I have found multiple patterns there AND multiple knitting groups where there are MORE resources... Good Luck!

I did that very same thing... Then I found a local yarn store with plenty of experienced knitters that helped me with the little things you only learn from trial & error...

I'm also a knitter who uses Ravelry--I've found some really great patterns on there. I haven't done much Disney knitting, but I picked up a free crochet pattern at Michael's for a baby hat with mouse ears on it. I'm making one for a friend who's having a baby later this year (it will be especially appropriate as she and her husband spent part of their honeymoon at WDW).

EDITED TO ADD: I've found that knitting or crocheting different patterns is one of the best ways to improve my skills--the more I knit, the more I recognize/realize what's supposed to be going on, making it easier to pick up stitches and correct errors without frogging the whole thing.

I haven't knitted or crocheted any Disney patterns, yet. The idea has nestled in the back of my mind though.

I mainly knit, but I also crochet. Mom taught me both when I was young, so I've been doing both for years. Between what I learned from Mom, what I learn at the local yarn stores and what I find on Ravelry and the 'Net, I've plowed my way through many a hat, sock, scarf, shawl and the occasional afghan. I can knit with 4 or 5 double pointed needles without fear. Cables and lace don't intimidate me as I just go through them one stitch at a time, counting stitches at the end of each row to make sure I didn't drop one or make an extra one. Just don't ask me to talk and knit lace at the same time.

An expert though, I am most certainly not!

Sweaters are my Waterloo! My sweater attempts have, so far, been a complete disaster. This year's must do project is a shrug, which to me is a little less intimidating than a whole sweater. It does have the dreaded sleeves though.

Sewmess, I'd love to see your Mickey cable chart when you get it done. I'll be happy to test it for you.

And I agree with krb2g. I learn best by continuing to knit and crochet different patterns. I've been known to frog (rip out stitches) an entire sock because I really goofed it up at the beginning and didn't notice until almost too late and start knitting it all over again.

What is your current project? I'm knitting a lacy shawl. It's much easier than you think. I'll post a WIP photo later.

Lifelong knitter and crocheter here. Printing on graph paper will work well for crocheting but may look distorted for a knitting project. Single crochet stitches are pretty square but knit stitches are more rectangular, sometime significantly depending on the gauge.

Ravelry is definitely a favorite site of mine. Prior to discovering it my faves were knitting pattern central and crochet pattern central.
