dining plan without staying on property?

Is there anyway to purchase a dining plan without staying on Disney property? We're staying at the Marriott.

Can't be done. The dining plans are offered only to guests of Disney-operated resorts.

Not only do you have to be staying at a Disney owned on-site resort, you have to be booked under a Magic Your Way package that includes room and tickets to purchase the dining plan - cant get it with a room only reservation even if staying on site.

Actually AP holders and some members of the military can book a 'ticketless pkg' and buy the DDP, without having to purchase park tickets. But, you're right, room only reservations are not eligible. When an AP holder or military add the DDP, it becomes a pkg, with all the pkg restrictions (must be paid in full by 45 days out and penalties if canceled within the 45 day period). They just don't have to buy park tickets. However, even then they must be booked onsite. Anyone booked offsite is never eligible to get the DDP.

DVC members staying on points can also buy the DDP, without having to purchase park tickets.

Everyone else must have a MYW pkg booked with an onsite room and at least one day park tickets for everyone in the room though (two day park tickets for free dining).

Also, even though they are physically on property, people staying at the Swan/Dolphin or Bonnet Creek resorts are also not eligible to get the DDP either (because they are not Disney owned resorts). For some reason that confuses some people and gets asked on here pretty frequently.
