Restaurant Reservation Alert
is there such a thing as an alert we can sign up for the restaurant? like if they didnt have the time slot i wanted, some kind of waiting list to sign up for? this will be our first trip so im trying to figure everything out and trying to fix mistakes like making our reservations too late...

Sorry, no wait list, no warning system provided by Disney. It's up to you to check back. You can try the Cancelled Reservations thread for the month you want to go, to see if anyone will be cancelling the restaurant and time you want.
Those are on the Reservations sub-board where I'm moving this.
