What to expect - Availability at 7 months (or less)

Studios tend to book first, then 2 bedrooms, then 1 bedrooms.

The problem you run into is dedicated 2 bedrooms tend to get snatched up during the home-resort booking window, which leaves just the lockoffs. If all the studios are booked when you go to book your 2 bedroom, it will show as unavailable because only 1 bedrooms are left.

No, dedicateds are a booking category and are more popular than lockoffs.

So at eleven months everything is open.

Studios book first - first they book the stand alone studios
Dedicated two bedrooms book second
What is left is one bedrooms and lock off two bedrooms which could be booked as a studio, one bedroom, or two bedroom. But once any of those configurations is gone, that leaves one (or no) configurations left.

We booked a July 4th vacation with SIL (for 2008)...we were getting a 1BR and she was getting a 2BR...we waited until about 6 months out. We wanted BCV and SIL could get the 2BR, but we could not get a 1BR...we even were considering a split stay and no 1BRs were available for either 1/2 of our 9 night stay. We did get BWV (the last 1BR for 1/2 the stay) and VWL for the other half. And since Dec 2011, we have been booking 2BRs and have gotten what we wanted each time (including a summer trip to VB and a recent trip to BCV). I always assumed that 2BRs were the easiest to get at 7 months.

Is this the same for SSR which is the largest? Or are they available a little longer? We got a great deal at SSR and purchased 320 there. After learning (reading, reading, reading) a lot more I can say I wish we broke it up into smaller Points at 2 or maybe 3 other resorts. I had thought you could divide and resale smaller like you do with real property. Mistake..............But live and learn. Slowly getting the overall picture.
