Just curious because we bought BCV resale w/previous years' points last summer for $72pp. They now want $115pp direct and that's a $43pp savings for us. Don't care at all about the restrictions on those points.

We also bought BLT direct before we knew about resale but prices were $65 less than they are now. Crazy.
I sold a BCV contract in 2006 for about $95 a point.

That is awesome!! Up to right now, it seems that BLT and BCV are holding their value compared to the other WDW DVC properties.

Location, location, location. Makes me feel a little better about my dues bill.

I stumbled into this website by a friend who likes to cruise on Disney and spent lots of time on the cruise forum before landing (and pretty much staying here; so unless you are a self teaching soul; how do you know what is out there?)

Do I feel better about going through Disney? Hmmm.....I like being able to use my points freely any way, despite the cost factor which I definitely do acknowledge. But, I think it is like buying a car. Do I feel better if I drive a brand new car off the lot or if I wait a few months and buy a car a year old. I pretty much get the same product; just one for less. So in the future if I have money not ear marked for something, I would buy resale since I have the direct points already and would be buying resale to get the 11 month window at a 'favorite' resort.
I agree with your thoughts, in fact when I first bought many years ago I did go thru Disney, and I thought I was well informed, I was really not as informed as I thought or just afraid a resale might be different.

It wasn't until many years later when I bought back in the light bulb went off.

Well, I don't remember the year, but if someone can tell the date that BCV opened, I was there for opening day, I remember because there was no big fanfare, and we got a free week at Beach Club as incentive.

We paid around 72, it may have been 70. I don't remember exactly cause we sold it

$72 today is a deal, I would never buy it at full price.

And summer 2012 I bought BCV points at $65/pt. Can't count on any particular price point, it will vary with the market.

I am just in the final stages of buying a resale contract for BLT. The difference between direct at $160/pt and resale at 90-95 is about 70 per point. On a 200 point contract that is $14,000. No way could I justify that difference by buying direct. Other people may but I could not.
