Avoiding that pre-race cold! - The DIS Discussion Forums

Just curious how everyone else tries to avoid the dreaded pre-race cold. I started getting a cold last week. So after a strong dose of Zicam, im healthy and taking steps to keep it that way. I always take a multi vitamin, but starting tomorrow ill add Airbourne to some water in the morning.

I do absolutely nothing. Eat healthy, exercise, stopped the multi vitamin years ago. What happens, happens.

Got my cold on 12/30 and have been on the Mucinex Fast-max since. Seems to be winding down. This on top of a sore hamstring, so it's been one+ week of miserable rest for me. Heading down tomorrow to get acclimated to the warm weather and hope that will take care of the finishing touches for knockng it out of me. Good luck!

Take the multivitamin, drink lots of water, eat somewhat healthy, get lots of sleep and WASH MY HANDS. Can't do much more than that.

I am trying to avoid people like the plague.

I've been taking Airborn daily, washing my hands frequently, and eating healthy.

Ugh, I came down with the dreaded cold yesterday.. Even after using Airborne, Emergen-C and being a sanitizer freak! Hopefully it will work its way out this week (better sooner than later), until then I'm just trying to drink lots of fluids and rest up.

Sleep is probably my biggest issue along with my work environment ( a dirty, cold steelmill). Its so tough for me to go to sleep before 11. That becomes even tougher when I know disneyworld is at the end of my week.

Nothing more than I normally do.

I have four kids and I volunteer in their elementary school a lot. I am around illness constantly. Today I was in the same room with 100+ kids over a few hours while I helped in the media center. I touch all of the books they check in and out. And they can be so grimey!

Today a very sniffly girl (was rubbing her nose every other second with her hand) ran her fingers through my hair by accident while I was helping her find a book. lol

If I get sick, I get sick. I won't be surprised and I'll cope with it the best that I can.

Yeah, well, I'm sick too. Sore throat since Friday, and now the stuffy nose and congestion is in full swing. Still using Zicam, but I don't know why.

Liz, I was at my kids' school today helping too. And ewww, kids are gross.
