When they changed my Figment I did not say a word, When they upgraded my SSE to V3.0 I let them pass, but this was my all time favorite in the world! I feel like almost crying right now like I lost a friend. I will wait to judge until I visit next month, but come on WDI this was the best you could do after shutting it down for 1/2 year ?

We were at WDW the first of December and got to ride the new TT. I was disappointed. I miss the old TT. I felt like I was in a Tron movie. It was too futuristic for me. They did take a ride photo. I guess it just all comes down to personal opinion.

Well I rode it this week. I can say that I wasn't really disappointed but not overly impressed either. I like still like the overall ride. They are just two different atmospheres. My wife liked the more interactive things at the end. Driving the cars on the little racetrack and the pics we did.

My daughters loved the Tron feeling. I thought it was just as good, though totally different than before. I think the new feeling will wear off quickly and though I liked it well enough I don't think it will have the long term staying power as the original.
I think Disney proved again that there are no real imagineers left at Disney...Maybe they should have asked their old imagineers over at Universal for some help.

With Cars Land at DCA, I see there are some real imagineers left but obviously not the ones that worked on TT.

I went on the new TT for the first time a few days ago, and its just a mess. First off, the whole design aspect, which composes most of the queue time waiting for, has no effect on the ride whatsoever and even though you scan in your vehicle before boarding they couldn't even project your vehicle in a side by side at some point? The ride has really lost its point in my opinion, I swear their thought process must of been something along the lines of:
"Hey, I just watch Tron: Legacy last night, what if we put up black walls, projectors, and black lights in the show building? What's that? Chevy is giving us money? Cool, lets shamelessly use the word Chevrolet as many times as possible throughout, and even put in a pointless bump for Onstar while we're at it!" (Note: I'm a huge Tron fan, but it doesn't have a place in a Chevrolet car testing attraction) And then we come to the jarring and eye-killing moment when you zoom out of the grid and into the Florida sun at high speed. It makes no sense, isn't explained, and just has little relevance. They'd honestly be better off axing the entire "car testing" aspect to it and make it some generic futuristic adventure ride, because it would make a heck of a lot more sense than it does now. I miss the old test track. The one is already a sloppy mess, and has several things broken (whether it be design stations, interactive queue, or ride elements). The new ride is all glitz; but the story, efficiency, and point to it is horrible... Rant over.

Having said that, I understand the complaint with TT. Yes, it probably could have been better and maybe from that standpoint, I am a little disappointed that it could be more, but I don't dislike the ride, its about the same thrill to me. Also, with the Avatar Land (which I am up and down about) and the whole Star Wars deal, we just might see a step up in the game from a ride technology standpoint, because those themes deserve it. If they don't, then Disney has some issues. |
