Christine,
Your welcome !!!!! Just remember those maps are not to scale but it will give you a idea.

We had a nice time even with the rain and cold. I just PRAY we don't have rain during our race weekend.

Thanks!! I'm actually driving down to Buttonwillow tonight so I can get there when the park opens tomorrow and not have to leave at 2am. We'll see how that goes, should be interesting.

Buttonwillow

Good luck and stay awake.

If you drive further......... in the Grapevine the Holiday Inn Fraizer Park (you can see it from the 5) is a good clean place to stay and without traffic it's 1 1/2 hrs away from DL.

Trip was great, although it was a long short weekend! Buttonwillow wasn't too bad, got on the road around 4:50 Sat, and are you ready for this, I used cruise control all the way to Dodger Stadium!!! I could kept it on cruise the whole way down, but they had dense SF-like fog that set in around the stadium so I took it off, but there was no stopping, no slowing... even typing it I don't believe it!! Saw Candlelight it was awesome, you wouldn't think they could fit that many singers in that little area. I also saw them making the candy canes in DCA on Sat, were you able to get one last weekend and figure out why they're so popular?

On a side note, someone mentioned in the DL 1/2 thread and I had to check it out b/c I didn't believe it, but did you see how much they're now charging for the race next year? I can't believe it!!! You'd think our medals are made out of gold or something.

I read, I think on FB, today that it's starting at $175? Is that what you read too? That is nuts-o! What's even crazier is they raise the prices every year, raise the capacity and STILL manage to sell all of them out. I'm wondering where the breaking point is!?!

Yeah, that's what I read and thought too! And that doesn't even include the active fee which is at least $10 or $15! I'm really torn over the price too. I know it's $25 more than this past year, but like you said, when's it going to stop? As much as I love the Disney events, at some point you just get priced out.

The other thing that I thought was interesting is that unless they change the times after reg opens like they did w/ Tink, the start time is still 6:45 for the 5k and 5:45 for the 1/2. I was kinda hoping that b/c the changed Tink in the dead of winter to 5:45 for the 5k and 5 for the 1/2 they would do the same for the end of summer, usually warm around finishing time they would move that start up too. Oh well!

I'm SO glad you had a great weekend !!! Candy canes and Candlelight...doesn't get bettter than that. No, I can't believe you had NO traffic. That is wonderful especially since it was a short trip. I'm glad you were able to see Candlelight. No candy canes for us this year. We were not early enough. I still have two from prior years in the pantry but will not dare open them. (I know kind of silly)

No I had not heard anything about the $$$ of the DL 1/2. With the cost increase of the AP's, yes I can believe the price of the race. Disney knows that people will spend the money and it will sell out. I am disappointed to hear of the price jump but I can't imagine not doing it. I guess I just will not spend as much $$ at the expo on merchandise. (I can say that now )
I'm not on facebook so I did not hear anything, but was there any mention of when registration starts ?? It would be great to register at the Tink expo then avoid the active fees.

Gah... they changed the course. I'm pouting.

From website: Half Marathon Course Description

The course for this race packed with pixie dust will begin on Disneyland Drive where runners will pass under Downtown Disney® on their way into Disney California Adventure® Park. Runners will experience the glitz and glamour of the Park's Hollywood Boulevard, before racing down Route 66 into Cars Land, and winding around the glistening Paradise Bay. The race will continue down the famed Main Street U.S.A. and pass the home of Tinker Bell and her pixie pals, Pixie Hollow, before it makes its way around the Rivers of America. After Disneyland® Park, the race will cut through Downtown Disney® by the Disneyland® Hotel and then it is on to the City of Anaheim. Runners will race through the enchanting, historic neighborhoods of downtown Anaheim, down the Anaheim Center Street Promenade and past Anaheim Ice on their way towards City Hall. Before returning to the Disneyland® Resort runners make their way past the Anaheim GardenWalk, and then it's time for their "Fairy"-tale finish near Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel.

I injured my ankle tuesday of last week and I am still unable to do a workout. It feels much better this week, until I get on the treadmill. I refuse to bum out about this. My training had been going very well..... So, I have lots to do between now and Dec. 20, and then I am out of town until the first of the year,

If I am healed by the first of the year, I know I have a decent shot at completing Tink. Sure, I wanted to work on speed, but it may not happen. So, for now, I will have to say just finishing will be enough.

Chrisitine,
I'm am sorry to hear of your ankle. You said it yourself your training has been going really well, just remember that !!!! Just try and take care of yourself and maybe your ankle will be healing faster than you expected it to. I'm sure you will have no trouble finishing---especially with all the training you have done.

You would also be surprised what you can do on race day....I was sick for the DL 1/2 in Sept. It was not the time I was hoping for but I really believe it was my training that got me through.

Just try and keep a positive outlook !!

Thanks, Vicki. I will take the focus off my training and put it into the holiday madness (which I typically avoid!). If I can get some workouts in, great. If not, I won't sweat it for the next 2-3 weeks.

Holiday madness indeed !!! Last night I spent more time wrapping gifts than on the treadmill. Just when I think I'm done decking the halls......I remember something else that I've got to get done.
