Matt- what's the terrain like at the DL half? Loved how flat the wine and dine was. Is DL similar? How about any banked exit ramps? (apparently I'm now scared of them thanks to my stupid ankle after the w&d). I heard there's a lot of on course spectator support - is that true?

Does anyone remember how much the 2012 half and 5k were? Was there a stroller division for the 5k?
I want to run both, and need to budget as christmas is coming and January looks to be tight with a trip to WDW. |

![]() The marathon was $150 by February 28th, the 5k stroller division was $55. I think I can safely assume that this will go up? |

Weather is the biggest difference. Course support is better than WDW because of the open streets, and last year DL did a good job of inviting car clubs to help at some of the empty miles. I'll be there again. Keeping my legacy status. I might run as Peter Pan though this year since I'm at the back end of my age group, and I will be running the 5k with my daughters the day before. |

I'm in for my first DL half! First trip out to DL ever actually
helloirishkitty - I'm a little worried too about budgeting for the registration. With Christmas and a trip to DW in January money's going to be tight to get registered for the DL half before it sells out

I C2C this year with Princess and DL 1/2 and here are my 2 cents worth!
1. Hotels::: Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Orange County for DL 1/2--loved everything about it. The shuttle was right next door and very easy to use. For Princess I stayed at Bay Lake Tower, OMG is this place amazing, anyway, we had a car so it was easy for my hubby to get me to the race. Couldve taken the monorail back but decided on the shuttle, easy no problems. 2. Course::: For DL and Princess they were both pretty flat. I live in Oregon so am used to hills, if memory serves DL had a few more hills. Running thru WDW is VERY different because it is just bigger , meaning the "sidewalks", castles everything are just wider there. There was a ridiculous bottle neck at the castle at DL. I mean just dead stopped for awhile, just so many people and the castle is pretty small. This happened a few times the first 4 miles of DL. I wouldnt expect record breaking pace because of all the jam ups. If you are not super concerned about pace then no worries! I've done 4 half's this year and Princess was my best and DL my worst (11 minutes slower) I think do to all the stops. 3. "Vibe"::: To me hands down Princess was more "fun". Both had great starts, expos (although princess was bigger), There is alot of just "city" on the DL 1/2. Wasnt that big of a deal but where Princess was ALL DISNEY vibe the DL was only "disneyish" the first 4 miles. Running thru Anaheim Stadium was really cool..... 4. Medals::: Ok wow. Both I absolutely cherish! The princess because it was my first 1/2 but the DL medal is AMAZING. It's the size of my hand and the band is just SO cool. By the way, the C2C medal is gorgeous. Hope you all have a fantastic time!!!! I'm going to C2C again in 2014 with Tinkerbell and Wine & Dine!!! Dig Deep!

I would love to do the DL 1/2 this year but have to talk to my hubby about it. We are in PA, so CA will be pretty expensive with airfare over the holiday, etc. I really do want that C2C medal (doing the full in January)!

I'm in for the 1/2! It'll be my first *anything*! I'm still 'learning' to run (currently I'm up to three minutes at a shot woo) Ok, seriously though - hopefully by next Sept I'll be in shape to do this. I'm going with two other friends. We're all very excited!

For me the debate is between the 5K and the 1/2. Having just finished training for the C2C, I'm a little burned out right now on training for a 1/2. Of course, I don't have to sign up for a while yet, which is nice.
Figment1990, I think the Disneyland 1/2 course was more 'challenging' than the Wine & Dine 1/2 although challenging is relative. The overpass shortly after exiting Disneyland around mile 4 is steeper than the hill right before DHS. There are some other slight inclines along the way, but nothing too bad. That said, I think there's more on course motivation for the Disneyland 1/2. The pep bands and cheerleaders really give you a good shot of adrenaline along the way and the rush of running through Angels Stadium with the stands full of cheering crowds and the PA announcer reading names and hometowns like a starting lineup is unlike anything on the Wine & Dine 1/2. And it should be pointed out that you do spend a lot of time in both DLR parks for the Disneyland 1/2. The Wine & Dine 1/2 is barely in Epcot. I understand why we couldn't go through World Showcase, but that would have been awesome at night. And not counting the C2C medal, my favorite runDisney medal is the Disneyland 1/2 medal. It's awesome with the classic stylized Disneyland D and Sleeping Beauty Castle. Of all the WDW 1/2 medals, my favorite is easily the Wine & Dine 1/2. I'm not the biggest fan of other 1/2 medals. |

That's EASY, do both!
![]() The 5k is all the best parts of the half course, so you get to do them twice. ![]() I tend to be sprinting my way through trying to beat the 8 year olds, but even if it was just a warm up walk for the weekend it's certainly a lot of fun. I will say it is PACKED however if you're anywhere mid pack to the back.

I'm a definite maybe for the half right now. After I did it once, I said "Never again" because I found the warehouse district of Anaheim (that's what it felt like anyway) really uninspiring and I missed the magic of Disney characters throughout like we typically get in Orlando.
But... Since CarsLand has opened and the construction that had walls up everywhere has finished, I'm thinking I may do it once more to experience that. We'll see though.
