I know what you mean too. Living out of my home state, watching the games is one the few things I have to make me feel more connected. I'm actually home for Thanksgiving right now, and drove past Joe Louis Arena last night...it was sad.
And of course ESPN isn't covering the NHL right now...what is there to cover? They aren't playing so there are no games to discuss. The talks have ceased so there is no news to report. What are they supposed to do? Spend 10 minutes saying "the NHL is still in a lock out..."

Living in Northern California, we don't have college hockey, but we do have 2 minor league teams. Neither is at an arena that I'm comfortable going to (Stockton & So. San Francisco). We might consider the SF arena, especially of there's a day game, but we really want our Sharks back!

My family is really missing the Bruins!!
My DH&DS were watching that same junior hockey game today too. I really wish the strike would end. The last couple years DH has taken DS to a BOston University game. I hope they get the tix this yr.

It is a lock out, not a strike. And if the objective of the owners was to alienate and lose those casually interested in the game, whom they need for the sport to grow, they're doing a bang up job of it.
Sad that the Kings probably won't get to defend their title. |

I miss the Saturday night rituals with the game on during the cold months.

We don,t have a team in Seattle, but we live close enough to Vancouver BC to make a lot of people here fans, BIG fans. We do have a juniors team locally.
I became a fan by default, that's what happens when you marry a Canadian! He is missing it so much he is watching old re-run games on the NHL channel (came with the package) I probably should say Seattle doesn't have a team, yet, as they are trying really hard to get on to come here. |

I am missing hockey big time. Just went to an AHL game on Friday. Gotta support the minor leaguers if the NHL isn't interested in our money.

I am quite serious when I say IMHO the ONLY good thing about winter in Detroit is watching the Red Wings games. We are feeling the loss BIG TIME, and my heart breaks for the downtown restaurants and vendors that are losing out on the revenue they depend on for a living.

Got my hockey fix earlier today. AHL teams Albany Devils and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins played a game in Atlantic City. The AHL Devils are playing three additional games there this season as well.
