Any vegans or vegetarians doing DCP Spring 2013?

Hey everyone!

I am looking for vegan, vegetarian, and veg-friendly roommates and friends to hang out with!

I'm a CP alumna, but I am a vegetarian. I enjoy exploring all the veg-friendly foods that WDW has to offer - and they are pretty good about it!

When you make an ADR online for a table-service dining location, there is a spot where you can list special dietary requests. I believe there is a spot where you can check "other" or something to that effect. And hopefully one of the chefs will come by to talk with you about your request.

I would also check out this thread, which is currently 69 pages long, but it is all about vegan/vegetarian dining at WDW! A great place to get ideas.

Here are a just a few places I like to eat while visiting WDW:
- Sunshine Seasons (Epcot)
- Columbia Harbour House (MK)
- Boma (AKL)
- Pizzafari (DAK)

I'm looking forward to trying more places!

And to the DIS!

Thank you for your suggestions!
I will be sure to check out those restaurants during my CP.

Being a vegetarian during your CP, did you run any negative attitudes with your roommates or co-workers?

No problem!

I had one roommate on the CP, and I had no problems at all having a vegetarian lifestyle in our apartment. Same with co-workers - I don't remember anyone giving me a hard time.

I don't think I've encountered negative attitudes with any of my past and present co-workers. Mostly people are curious and want to know why I choose not to eat meat, what I eat instead, etc.

I'm glad to hear the Disney crew is open minded about the veg lifestyle!

Were there any veg meal options in the employee break areas?

I bring my lunch, so I may not be the best person to answer this. However, I would think that most of the cast member cafeterias would be accommodating. I do know there is a Subway inside the MK one.

I'll be doing the Spring Advantage program as a vegetarian. Alas, I'm a male, so we could not be roommates, but it would be nice to have some veg-friendly friends down there. They are extremely difficult to find in the South, based on my experience. In fact, I've been wanting to become vegan for a few months now, but I have struggled with any attempts so far. Perhaps we could both provide each other with valuable advice and cooperate in exploring Disney's vegetarian options (I know of a great one at Downtown Disney).

I don't have social media to any extent, but feel free to contact me otherwise with the contact information below (Same to anyone else doing the spring program!).

Best wishes,

I don't know about how it would be in the college program. But, the last time I was in WDW as a guest I was vegan and didn't have any trouble at all finding food. Everyone was very accommodating as far as eating in the parks went. My mother did a little research before we went, but honestly most of the staff seemed pretty versed in vegan eating restrictions.
