Why don't the characters talk?

LOL that's what my 5yo just asked me - what can I tell him without wrecking the magic???

Their voices get tired from ALL the people who want to talk with them and they would have a sore throat every day. That's what we went with last time and it seemed to pacify my boys. Not sure how long that will hold up, but...

That worked with us too about the voices. Her first trip last year she never said anything until the very last time we saw Mickey and Minnie on our way out and I said they had been talking all week and were tired.

This year she asked it but it was on the same day that she happened to have almost lost her voice so we were able to explain that they have to save their voices for their adventures or maybe they lost them like she did from all the talking. That seemed to satisfy her other than she said she really didn't think Jake and June would be so tall because she thought they were little kids like her. I just let that one go, couldn't find a way to explain that.

They have to save their voices to make movies/cartoons.

Glad you asked this! I've wondered what to tell my DD5 on our trip in Dec. I'm guessing that she'll ask. I'll try the saving their voice suggestion

Related to this, my 7 year old DD decided that the "face" characters are people in costumes but Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, etc... were all real. Her twin brother thinks that all the characters were real. Truly the magic of Disney!

Cute! The only face character we saw was Peter Pan - he was great!
