How does walking a reservation work? (Or booking a longer reservation.)
You book your first 7 days. Then next day call and add one day? And so on.
I guess I don't mean really walking it, but booking more than 7 days. When I tried that before, the CM I talked with said I had to wait until the first 7 days were up to book beyond. I explained I wanted 12 total, and was trying to add more days to original reservation. She wouldn't let me. Another time, same thing happened, but I wanted 10 total. How do you all do it?

if i want dec 25 for 7 nights, i would normally call on jan 25. but since it's a busy period, i could also call on jan 19 and book dec 19 for 7 nights since that is the first day i could call to book dec 25. then i could call back on jan 25 to add the last 6 nights (more or less). Quote:

As Charles said it isn't necessary to call back every day to add a day. BUT - the CM's at MS can do that if you want. As long as you were trying to book the exact same room accommodation as you already had for the first 7 days the CM would have been able to modify the reservation and add on to it. If that was the case then the info you received was incorrect. But if you were trying to book a different room type then you would have to wait for the new 11 month booking window to open.

This has cleared some of my confusion over this subject. I guess we have yet to book more than 7 nights, plus yet to book exactly at 11 month window.
Thanks for all the info I will have to keep that in mind as I go forward. |

Is there a problem with "walking" mucking up the system?
I want to book a BW GV for five nights, a Sun - Thurs next October (F&W).
I can call 11mths out to the day at 7am ET and try, but I know that there aren't many GV at BW. What I'm wondering, is if there's it's likely I won't have a shot because someone else is walking a reservation. I know a few years ago there was a lot of angry talk about people calling a week ahead just to get the first night of the reservation (calling on the 19th of Jan to get the 19th - 26th of Dec and then canceling day by day as other days are added until they get to the 26th of Dec which is the first night they really want. Does this still happen? I mean, it's one thing to call 11 mths out for the day you actually want to check in, it's another to start calling a week before your window and then canceling day by day. Right? |
