How Late Can We Check In?

We're looking at going to US/IOA in the middle of May and we'll be staying on property. If our flight gets in late, we probably won't get to the hotel until after midnight, can we check in?

I'm trying to get 2 full days at the parks, but with staying only one night in the hotel.

Here's an example. We fly down Thursday evening, but arrive at the hotel after midnight Friday and then check out Saturday. So we would have all day Friday and Saturday to do the parks. Also if allowed to check in, would this count as a 1 or 2 night stay?

Thanks

Sorry I'm on my phone and didn't realize that this wasn't on the resorts board.

I'm guessing you could technically check in for your your Friday night stay anytime after midnight, but there is no way they will give you a room on Thursday night. You will probably be able to get your park passes, express pass, etc, but unless you book a room for Thursday night, your room will likely not be ready until sometime Friday afternoon.

I used to work in the hotel industry and what you are trying to do would not work. You will have to book a room for Thursday night if you wish to sleep after your flight arrives.

many people do check in late at night.
i know one person over seas that arrives just after midnight.
but, she has a room booked for that late arrival.
she calls before leaving her home and again at the airport to let the front desk she is on her way to the hotel for a very late check in.

if you arrive at the hotel after midnight, which would then be friday, you might have a wait to checkin.

the hotel system does not automatically revert to the new date soon after the stroke of midnight, for the next day check ins.

so if you arrive after midnight, able to check in around 1:00 ? am, you would not be getting a room at that time in most cases.
note i am using the hour of 1:00am just as an example.
i do not know the exact hour/time when the system is ready for each day's check ins. (earliest i have ever check in was at 6:10 am)

if the hotel does have an empty room at that 1? am time period, then you could move into it if it is on the list that the room was checked off by the supervisor prior. (and the reservation system was updated to current day)

when a guest checks out of a room, housekeeping cleans it.
then a supervisor has to inspect and release it back into the group of available rooms for a new guest.

rooms are not cleaned until a guest checks out of it.

if there was a room not used on the night of that Thursday and it was in the system as available, you arrive and check in early friday morning at, then that is a possibility for you.

you would be charged for a friday night stay. Only one night.
and, you would have the hotel perks of early entry for friday and check out day on saturday.

hopefully you will get lucky and be able to accomplish that.

a lot depends on the occupancy level of the hotel when you check in.

if the room assignment for you is occupied the night prior, you will have a wait before the room will be released for the next guest.

i stayed at the onsite hotel this month.
i did an early checkin.

check out time for hotel guests is 11:00 am.
it is possible for guests to get an extended check out time, all handled personally by the front desk.

i had booked a king suite.
it was occupied the night prior to my ressie.
the guests in that room checked out early, 10:20.

it was cleaned, inspected and then released for availability.
i was able to move to that room at 12:30.

if you prefer to have a room available for you when you arrive at the hotel after midnight, you would need to book the thursday night to secure that.

if cost is an issue, you could book an offsite hotel for that first night in orlando and then go to the onsite hotel at 6:00 the next morning for checkin.

check in at 7:00ish at the hotel, have your belongings checked into valet, then hit the park line around 7:50 for early entry.

you can request that your items stored in valet be brought to your room while you are in the park.

I figured, but just I'm case I wanted to ask. Cost isn't an issue, just didn't want to pay for more than I had to.

Looking into AP passes as well since we'll only be there for two nights.

Yup. We went to bed and slept, so we should have been charged for it.
