Can any who have recently returned from BC-Club recollect any warm entrees that were served in the evenings? Thanks so much, we are checking in 11/22, having Thanksgiving dinner at Captains Galley, just me and my DH.

CR Deluxe garden wing room - please enlighten me
Hi, I was going over my bills today, which included a stay at CR Deluxe Room Garden Wing in August...
I didn't notice it before but we got a letter from the Tower Club Cast Members - it was an invitation to visit the Atrium Club desk for assistance with travel arrangements, etc. I guess I am just surprised and a little bit confused. We also got nightly turndown in this room, with chocolates on the pillow. Is this room in a special subcategory of its own, with no Club Level but other benefits? |

I do recall that LuvLuvLuv received Tower Club level access from a CR Deluxe room for their Honeymoon in 2011, I believe, but I think that was offered as a way to make-up for some problems they encountered. I wonder what would have happened if you had tried your KTTW card in the Tower elevator? Both the CR and GF are the only Deluxes that offer a Deluxe room without club level access, I wonder if they're going to someday include them as CL rooms?

I seem to recall that a deluxe room at WL had concierge lounge access. Would this not be a similar situation?

You would think it would be, but it's not. GF non-RPC Deluxe and CR Deluxe are the only Deluxe rooms that do not include club level access/amenities.

Hi WDWKook, if I had noticed this letter back then, I would have tried my key to see what happened. Note the letter was an invitation for travel arrangement or luggage assistance, but I assume once you're in the lounge, you're in. (Just like the time I went into the RPC using my SL key. It was empty and I spent a quiet afternoon there reading while having afternoon tea.)
I'm not familiar with the CR lounges though and I don't know the diff between the Atrium Lounge and the Tower Lounge or the special elevator access. And of course we did not have gold key cards, which makes me wonder if the keys would have worked at all. Also the letter stated to visit the Atrium Club desk, but it was signed Tower Club Cast Members. We did not request turn down and the housekeeper told me it came with the room category. That in itself was not unusual to me - I just never thought about it until I came across this letter. Last edited by turningleaf; 10-22-2012 at 09:37 PM. |

Your blue keys might have worked. We were once upgraded at the GF to be able to use the lounge, but were still in BPK. Our blue cards were keyed to allow us to get into SL.

The food in the evening was good. They had 2 hot items (which they replenished the whole time) fruits, cheese & crackers, etc. My favorite part was the fresh pineapple with caramel sauce. I could live on that stuff! Yummm... The food in the morning was just okay. There was fruit, oatmeal, cereal, bagels, and muffins. This was fine for my DH and me, but I still ended up going to Capt. Cooks to get Mickey waffles for the boys. And yes, one time I saved some pineapple with caramel sauce in the fridge for breakfast the next morning!

We've stayed at BC several tiems, the most recent was very short, but the offerings were very similar t every other club level. the stand, though not hot, was fresh Lobster salad. It was outstanding! Nice chunks of lobster. Really amazing considering it's in Florida. As I've posted before, the hot offerings are nearly always some kind of fried dumpling, almost always with a dipping sauce. (rare exceptions on any club level are short ribs or meatballs) One night on our recent stay, bacon wrapped scallops were offered. (Wednesday night) The dumplings nearly always taste almost identical to me, whether they are supposed to be pork, duck, chicken, beef... except sometimes they are mildly spicy. Rarely of the offerings are something vegetarian like samosas or veggie egg rolls. One of the offerings during our recent BC was pea/potato samosas. I think the others were duck, and one that looked like crab rangoon, but was meat. During our most recent BC stay, the offerings were all fried dumplings (i.e. no meatballs or ribs) except the scallops - of that I'm certain. The precise fillings are a bit of a blur to me because, as I said, they nearly always taste about the same. Other offerings were a salad of some kind- along the lines of tomato/basil/mozerella, or maybe olives/cheese/artichoke hearts. There's always veggies like celery/tomoato/carrots with some kind of dip. You can also expect an assortment of cheese and crackers daily. The coffee/latte machine is available, and there's always a fridge full of sodas. |

Incidentally, during our BC stay we noticed that the resort had NEW gold cards! The new cards have a new feature! instead of inserting our cards into the door lock- all we had to do was wave them in front of the lock. It's similar to the way some devices work at the gas pump. (I notieced recently that some businesses are starting to allow you to install a similar reading capability on your cell phone. I would not be surprised if that was part of next gen - the ability to use JUST your cell phone in WDW as your KTTW!) |

CL at Poly in July
Sorry to just jump in but I just booked a room in the Hawaii building at the Poly for my 50th birthday. We usually stay at Ft.Wilderness, but wanted to do something different and special for this trip. Big change will be staying Club Level for the first time and staying only 3 days instead of 10. I'm excited, but also a little worried that things go well. I was probably Murphy in a previous life. You know, if anything can go wrong it will.
I don't want to have too high hopes for an extra magical experience and maybe if they forget to leave chocolate on my pillow or pixie dust in my room I won't notice. |
