There are only 60 THV and not all are available to DVC owners. Depending on the time of year with the number of SSR owners who all might book at 11 months, you might not always get your dates.

As far as being cool, you are in a wetland area removed from the SSR resort. It feels like you are camping but in a cabin/treehouse.

everyone has differing opinions here but the 2 bedrooms, the grandvillas, and the treehouses are all really nice. treehouses further away but, i don't feel too far away, more like tucked away and fun. although we do not own at ssr, we were able to book treehouses out at less than 4 months and just booked a grand villa for a week in february the other day. keep in mind the number of available units and your dates of travel, but ssr is truly a nice resort.

walking, again, is in the opinion of the feet of the beholder. for the amount of walking we do in WDW, i personally do not find the distance from THV to pool or bus pick up along the walking path. you may use the internal bus to transfer around.

We have used the 2 bedrooms a couple of times and plan to try for a TH for New Years 2013, we are campers also so the sounds of being remote looks good to us and we always have a car( not a fan of WDW buses) so we drive every where. I am sure you will enjoy the TH good luck.

When the THV was the same point cost as a 2 bedroom it was a no brainer to choose the THV. I would still recommend staying there if you have not done it. It is the closest thing DVC has to staying in your own home besides the VB beach villas.

we are DVC members and stayed in the treehouses (see my sig). We loved them. However now that the points have been adjusted we will not be staying there.

However if you want to stay there, try and get house 7035 or 7036. We would take the SSR bus to the Grandstand bus stop. You can walk across the parking lot, then the 17 fairway and get to your room. We did this every day/night and beat the bus by at least 15 minutes.

Caution 1: during the day you have to watch for golfers, if they are coming walk around the back of the green, or let them pass and walk behing them.

Caution 2: If you are cutting across around 10 pm and begin to hear a hiss.....run it is the sprinklers turning on. I heard the sound and knew what it was and made it. My wife thought I was being funny and did not believe me, she got pretty wet.

The master bedroom only has a queen sized bed. There are only two bathrooms. The third bedroom has bunk beds that won't work very well for full sized people, but probably good for kids.

I've stayed in regular SSR villas and a THV. I think the THVs are very cool. So fun. If you are all about the parks and don't want to spend any time at the villa, THV might not be a good choice. It does add a few minutes time to get to the bus stop. But if you want to hang out at the villa a bit, use the grill, enjoy the surroundings - I'd go for a treehouse, especially if you have kids.

I agree, use the grill, let the kids ride bikes, but we also went to parks, and enjoyed it all! We are another family that thinks the THV are cool!

We just spent 5 days at THV. It was nice, but don't think we'll stay there again. It adds an add'l ride onto your travel time (up to 20 min) and is too far from the amenities we love at SSR. We ended up parking at The Springs every day to avoid the extra bus time. If you're going to Disney to relax, then THV would be perfect, but with teens who are on the go it just didn't work for us.

We stayed in a THV this past June. LOVED it. We specifically requested a villa near the pathway to the Grandstandand and our request was honored. I believe we were in 7029. I am a healthy Mom with young healthy adult children who don't mind walking. We had a tree house which was steps from the walking path to the Grandstand, a very short distance to the boat taking us to DTD, and to the THV pool. Every morning we walked to the Grandstand to get the bus, or if we felt like breakfast we walked past the Grandstand to the Springs where the Artist's Palette is. We also walked from the Grandstand back to the villa at night on a well lit pth. The map in a previous post is deceiving and the walk looks much longer than it actually is. We used the Springs pool many times, and my girls and I also had a massage at the spa. We never rent a car in Disney and plan our park trips and ADR's accordingly. The villa itself is beautiful and the three bedrooms and two baths are great. The point adjustment makes me not want to book it again too soon, but all in all SSR is a wonderful resort and I'm glad to call it "home"

We loved the THV. And it didn't feel like camping to me. I've never camped with 2 bathrooms and a full kitchen. The theme is outdoorsy but really cool. I am a self admitted resort snob and I thought they were fantastic! We grilled twice. it was very nice to not have neighbors and have some quiet time after the parks or during the day. We took the boat to DTD and a bus to the Springs.
