cowboys and canyons - The DIS Discussion Forums

Has anyone taken the cowboys and canyons trip to arizona and utah? If so, any comments, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Say hello (the Moderater) took this trip and wrote a review.You can read the reviews on this boards under the heading on the main page. It was called Southwest Splendour before last year and the trip is basically the same but only name has been changed. We did the Alaska and montana trips with ABD and hope to do the Cowboys and Canyons next.

As carpenta said, the trip used to be called Southwest Splendors, so if you were looking for reviews & couldn't find them, that could be the reason! I took this ABD 4 years ago, and while they've made a few changes to it (staying on the Rim at the Grand Canyon instead of outside the park being the main change) it's still mostly the same trip. I've made no secret of the fact that I absolutely loved this trip, and think it's one of ABD's best itineraries. I can HIGHLY recommend it!

Thanks so much for your insights. Did you pre-arrange with ABD to get to the airport for the ride to the hotel? Any "issues" with that, other than what you described? I will definitely check out your report. My wife and I took the Viv Italia trip 2 years ago and it was AWESOME! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see Italy.

Yes, I let ABD know ahead of time that I would be arriving back at the airport at the arranged time (which they let me know). This trip is a little different than most ABD's, in that it is so far from the airport to the first hotel, that they do one big transfer via motorcoach after everyone has arrived, rather than individual family transfers like you probably saw in Italy.

If you've been on Viva Itialia, then you're well aware of the benefits of taking an ABD!

We did the same thing as far as a motor coach in the Montana trip. It was fine since most of the travelers arrived close to each other. Even though we missed our connection in Detroit ABD was still waiting. ABD do have you list your arrival time and plan accordingly.

Hello we are taking this trip July 2013. We are arriving the day before and staying at hotel near the airport. The hotel will transport us back to the airport the next day to meet the tour group. We can not wait !
