And to the OP, I also laughed at this post because we have stayed at POR two years now and we decided to take the boat home one night from downtown. I don't know what I expected, but it was not what it was. I likes that it was different than a bus and it was nice to see ssr, however that was it.

Sorry you were disappointed.
I have been on many boats over the years and have to agree with other posters, I don't think they were any less quite than the Disney boats. The boat ride has always been enjoyable to us. It's the only mode of transportation we took to and from DTD.

We loved our boat ride and can't wait to do it again in February. Sorry you had a bad experience.

DH and I usually enjoy the boats when we've stayed at POR. They are loud, but I think they're more relaxing than the buses.

I love the boat ride to DTD. But, they can be loud -especially in the back. And some do seem to be a little louder then others. Also, it may be my imagination but they sound louder at night!
![]() The daylight boats are the most relaxing. I like to watch the birds, river, trees etc. And some of the captains are very entertaining. One of my best memories was a ride to DTD where the captain was telling us about some of the native customs- jumping around with a stick over their heads. Seeing how far they could throw the stick. Dancing and slapping hands with others. When he got to hitting a little white ball with the stick we realized he was talking about the golfers on the course we were passing. ![]() I have ridden these boats many times and no 2 trips were the same (oh OK one trip back was pretty much the same as down - we did have the same captain.) It can be cooling if there is a little breeze off the river. And, I was told that the boats have to be about 10 minutes apart? Something like that, so no one has to wait too long. That is why they wait at the docks sometimes. I have to agree it can be very annoying. Especially when you are at FQ on the way to POR and the boat is full. |

Oh and forgot to say, they are a lot louder when they go fast, you can usually hear it. Generally, the boats go slow.

Agreed. It's not really faster than the bus either. They are restricted with how fast they can go on the route. It's also popular, so if you may not be able to get on the first boat. So if you're looking for a quick way, take the bus instead. But if you have time and want to do something different, we take the boat. For us, we like taking the boats on property if we have time, because it a change of bus from the buses.

Sorry OP that you didn't enjoy the boat ride. We have stayed at both Port Orleans resorts and we always take the boat. We enjoy the ride especially after the nightmare bus service some complain about at the other resorts going to DTD.

One of the best things about POR for us! Lot nicer coming back from DTD at night on a boat than packed in a bus. Working in retail, I tend to be able to switch off background noise so cannot say I noticed the engines much, but hitting other boats sounds dodgy....

I enjoy the boats but remember how loud they are! I think I must just switch off after a while or get used to the noise.
