Hi again!
The plan sounds good! Quick update on my situation.. Since the reservation isn't until 8pm and it looks like just adults are going, I think DH and I will find a babysitter for the kids. We live about 90 minutes outside of NYC and I think it would be better for them to stay home and not be out that late. Also, are we still thinking about doing a silent auction? If so, maybe ShesAPirate can ask the venue if they can set up a separate table for us to put the auction items on? And does anyone know how to go about getting donations? Do most businesses have a procedure you follow to request something like that or do you just go in and ask if they'd like to contribute something to donate?

![]() I would still like to do a Silent Auction and/or 50/50 Raffle for sure (50% to the winner, 50% to GKTW). I was thinking about it all the way home from work today. I haven't ever asked businesses for donations before, but maybe someone who's done a meet before can give us advice on what to do. I believe anyone asking local businesses for donations will need the GKTW Tax ID# for their write-offs. If anyone would like to donate an item for the auction, please let me know. I will have them set up a table for us (or something suitable).

I'd be happy to organize any donations. I did this recently for spring fundraising at our school. It might be most fun to sell raffle tickets rather than silent auction that way everyone can participate even if they can't afford outbidding people.
It's short notice to get a lot of donations but I can make up a gift basket of my own to raffle and I'm sure others may be able to do the same. If anyone has random items to contribute, I can combine things into baskets. Just PM me for address information.

I'd be glad to make a basket for donation, too. Off the top of my head, I will go with a coffee-themed basket Ginamarie, thank you for taking the helm with this part of it. PM me if you need any help or info from me! Thanks again!

Oh yeah, did I mention how excited I am for this?!
I've never been able to afford a Podcast Cruise (cue the violins ) and the timing hasn't been right for me to get to Disapalooza or any other events... so I've been hoping for a NYC meet for a good 5 years now. Can't wait! ![]() ![]()

You can count me as a yes - just one adult.
At the NJ DIS Meet last summer, I brought a couple of pieces of hand made jewelry for the GKTW fundraising, and will happily do so again. |

Okay, folks, this is coming together
![]() I need to know which of the following is preferred as part of the buffet (I don't eat veal or seafood, so I have no opinion either way): SALMON alla CONTADINA Fresh Atlantic Salmon filet pan-roasted with sun-dried tomato and capers OR VEAL TRE FUNGHI Veal scallopine in Marsala wine sauce with porcini, shiitake and Portobello mushrooms The other thing is I need to know your preference between ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. I could go either way on that one, but I'm going to vote for tiramisu. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHICH YOU PREFER FOR BOTH CATEGORIES AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE! THANKS!!!

I believe I can answer for both my husband and I on this one. Our votes would be for the veal and the tiramisu!

We don't eat veal at all because of how the animals are treated, but either dessert is fine.
