So it might be worth while checking for a bargin before your pay in full date next year.
We sailed 21st August last year on Disney Dream inside 10a cat, cost $1,698 for 3 adults. This August nearest 4 nighter would be $2,626 in same cat, next August similar at $2,547, way too high for 4 nights for me unfortunately.

really the nicest ship for 4 day cruises is the Dream - the other cruise lines put their dumpiest ships on that route...

if it were up to me, i would have taken a 7 day cruise on the oasis or allure for less than the cost of the 4 night on the Dream...
but i'm taking my mom and sister and they don't have time for a 7 day cruise - so the Dream it is!!

I don't think you're mad - we were on your first cruise too and have spent the time since saving for our next one. We seriously looked at other cruise lines but, as I knew we would, ended up booking with DCL! I think when it's just DH and I holidaying we'll bite the bullet and try a cruise out of Southampton (the non-flying from a port half an hour away from home will hopefully take the sting out of missing the Disney touches) but whilst our DDs are still coming with us it'll still be DCL for us.

LOL! I think you have a very valid point there - our eldest two will be 21 and nearly 19 so are long past the age of having to come with us but they both are!

there are some really nice ships that cruise out of southhampton!!
if i had such nice ships within non-flying distance of me, i'd be on them in a flash....no need for the exorbitantly expensive DCL, that's for sure!!!!

True - but I still harbour hopes that DCL will sail from Southampton one year and now they've opened a new terminal ..... fingers crossed

Yes I remember you, have you been on another one since? I think, like you, we could do other cruise lines elsewhere in the world but when in Florida you've just got to do DCL.
I know I joke about not taking the girls now they're getting older but Tbh I can't imagine going there without them, it just wouldn't be the same. As long as they want to come I'm not going to stop them, although if they're earning wages they can pay towards it lol.

No, we haven't been on another cruise since so are very much looking forward to stepping back on the Wonder next year - only just over a year to go now.

Which cruise are you going on on the Wonder? We've been eyeing up the Alaskan cruises on the Wonder but think it will have to wait a few years and make it a special anniversary trip for just the two of us.

if you're planning on seeing alaska, you should consider the one way cruises on other cruise lines (DCL only offers round trip).
then combine a one way cruise with a bit of inland touring either before or after.

Yes I noticed that. I think we probably would go RCCL for an Alaskan cruise but you never know lol.

We're doing an Alaskan from Vancouver then flying down to Anaheim to visit Disneyland. It's our silver wedding anniversary present to ourselves and we knew youngest DD would be coming as she'll only be 16 but were really pleased when the two older ones wanted to come too. I'm so glad they're all coming although I realise this probably really will be the last holiday that they all come on.

We spent a fair amount of time looking into this but decided this is for when it's just the two of us - so for next summer it's DCL.

That's was my original plan for next year until I priced it up and then realised it would have to wait for a special occasion. Our 25th is in 5 years so plenty of time to try and save and for the girls to get sick of going on holiday with us lol.

LOL that's why we haven't cruised since - been having to save up!

Chilly has recently come back from the first Alaskan cruise of this year and wrote a great report in the UK Trip Report section - it'll whet your appetite!

Sorry Wayne, my mistake, it's the Fantasy prices that I tracked. I only look at 7 nights, even then that's not enough nights for me.
