"To provide consistent Guest service, adjustments will be made to the Walt Disney World Resort cancellation policy beginning October 26, 2011. At that time, additional table-service locations will begin using the cancellation policy already in place at select restaurants on property. When booking a reservation at these restaurants, Guests will be required to provide a credit card to hold a reservation and will be charged $10 per person if the cancellation isnt made at least one day in advance.
Pre-paid locations will continue to retain the full, pre-paid amount if Guests are unable to honor the reservation and are unable to cancel the reservation one day in advance. At this time it is unknown what, if any, exigent circumstances will be permitted as excuses for cancelling a reservation at a restaurant on this list past the cancellation deadline (same day as the scheduled ADR). We do not know if Disney will have specific accepted excuses or if it will be up to the person who answers the phone whether or not to accept the excuse. We also cannot be sure at this time that any exigent circumstances for cancelling past the official deadline will be accepted at all.
This policy applies to ALL meals at the named restaurants. For example, even though 'Ohana dinner doesn't have characters, or Le Cellier lunch isn't "signature," these meals are not excepted from the policy. Be Our Guest lunch is counter service and reservations can't be made, so the policy does not apply at lunch for that particular restaurant.

You may wish to print the list from the website and bring it with you in case you encounter problems with cancelling. Some of the most commonly asked questions are reposted here from the Disney website, for example:
#1 THE ONE DAY CANCELLATION POLICY
Quote:
According to the credit card guarantee policy, I must cancel my reservation at least one day in advance. What does this mean?
At restaurants with the credit card guarantee policy, all cancellations should be made at least 1 day in advance of your reservation. For example: if your reservation is on Thursday, you must cancel your reservation no later than Wednesday end of day. Cancellation fees will be assessed for cancellations made on the day of your reservation.
|
#2 PARTIAL PARTIES
Quote:
I have a dinner reservation for 10 Guests at a restaurant that uses the credit card guarantee policy. Only 8 Guests are able to make it to dinner. Will I still be charged $10 each for the 2 Guests who were unable to attend?
No. As long as you honor the reservation, then there will be no charge to your credit card.
|
#3 HOW TO CANCEL
Quote:
How do I cancel a reservation at a restaurant that uses the credit card guarantee policy?
A special phone line that only handles dining cancellations is available for Guest convenience: (407) WDW-CNCL or (407) 939-2625. Alternatively, dining reservations may be booked or canceled by visiting any table-service restaurant podium, the front desk or concierge at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Guests may also make and cancel reservations online.

If you have attended a reservation with a credit card hold AT ALL, it is probably adviseable to check your credit card statements and be sure you were not charged if your party showed up. The latest is no-show charges resulting from large parties with separate ADRs combining those reservations at the podium.
PLEASE NOTE: The above quoted language is from the old website. None of it appears on the same FAQ link on the new website. Instead it says "each restaurant maintains its own cancellation policy." Does this mean the rules have changed? Can't be sure yet.
More information will be posted as it comes to our attention, after the majority of guests start operating under this policy. This thread is not for discussion and will be locked; there is a separate discussion thread.
