Wonder when they filmed the interviews for this episode? I know Jon said he was 2 hours late as he was not sure if he was coming or not. Maybe just the fact that she can't even rely on him to show up when he's supposed to was the straw that broke the camels back.

Or he found & rented an apartment in NYC, which goes against their original plan....so she needs to get the ball rolling & custody arrangements in wirting.

I'm confused about why Jon said he was "excited". In what context was it used?

He said he was excited about this new chapter of his life. He went on to say he's only 32. What irked me was that he was smirking part of the interview, even my DH saw it said what a loser. DH then said why does Jon look like he's smiling when he's talking about divorcing his wife.

I presume it was the news that Jon was apartment hunting in NY and when asked by reporters if he knew where Kate was he said "I have no idea" and didn't seem to care. I think he also opening acknowledged still having contact with "the other woman".

The people still defending Jon have got to be out of their minds! This is a man who cheats on his wife with a 23 year old woman, goes out drinking with the college crowd, looks for an apartment in an entirely different state, is EXCITED about the next chapter of his life, because after all, he's "only 32", and is sporting brand new ear piercings!

Come on people! He is out of control. This is not how a responsible parent with his children's best interest at heart acts.

And say what you want about Kate, but you know what? Jon was treated the way she had to treat him, like the 9th child. He obviously can't make a good decision if his (or his children's) lives depended on it.

She is doing what she has to do to provide for the kids, as far as taping the show goes. And just why oh why is Jon going to continue to be on the show if he was so against it all along? Give me a break.

I can't agree with that, until someone leaks the contract. Some contracts are pretty ironclad, and aren't just about money. And if it is about money, what it the fine was a 10 million, or even a billion dollars? What then? Do people here really think they have that much cash laying around? Should they strip the kids (if they have them) savings? Should they let both houses go into foreclosure? How do they pay something like that? So easy to judge, when it's not our kids lifes we are talking about.

I just wonder, if Jon was so unhappy, why did he sign the contract? Why didn't he refuse on his and his kids behalf? Why doesnt he buy out the contract with his share?

Any contractural lawyers here?

I've said it before, everyone I ever knew or knew of that had vow renewals ended in divorce. I've told DH that we will never have our vows renewed - it's a one time deal.

But it's probably good for the kids to keep doing it...just for a short bit. They've had these cameras around their whole lives, filming is normal for them. To continue for a few episodes would keep some stability; in a strange way. Not, mom & dad are getting divorced & the cameras are gone all in one week.

I think the dogs will stay. This (marital problems) has been going on for months. I think the dogs were bought for protection. Kate has said she "doesn't want to be alone", I think, even though she's not fond of them, she will feel protected and now the entire country knows that there are 2 German Shepards on the premises & in the house. Also, if the kids love the dogs (and obviously they do), I think they'll stay for that reason. Imagine taking those dogs away from Mady!!!

But if it was the apartment hunting -- isn't that something TLC is helping with so they can find a place that's ready to film in? And being producers of the show (J&K) how could she not know that?

I think this whole situation is VERY sad. I just knew these two were going to work it out. What happen to therapy? They could NOT have been separated for too long - one has already filed for divorce? I was wondering why Jon wouldn't just move back into their old house if it hasn't sold yet anyway. It would at least give the kids a familiar environment if it comes to them exchanging the kids from one home to the next. I just don't see it working out where only one parent stays in the house at a time, unless they each have a little apartment to live in while it's not "their turn" to spend with the kids.

I am not a fan or hater of either but I feel Kate would try but Jon has thrown in the towel. If he felt this way, he should have gotten a spine a long time ago and had a talk with Kate. Maybe he did & it just wasn't shown on tv but he should've stood up for himself more. JMHO

A "response" from TLC - or any of the sponsors isn't necessary.. They do read the complaints and they do pay attention to what people are saying.. Why do you think they created this "big drama" for tonight? They are hearing loud and clear that the "kiss of death" is on the horizon for this show.. People are disgusted by it - and after tonight, I think a lot more people are going to be disgusted - so much so that they will stop watching..

More of Kate playing the victim.. What was Jon going to do? Kidnap the children? Start beating Kate? "Protecting herself and her children" equals "protecting her victim image.."
