I'm with you. I think, like Kate said, this would have happened with or without the show.

Well, perhaps, but Kate will no doubt use this logic to reaffirm her decision to press on with the show even though it was clear that Jon, from his on camera comments, was ready for it to be over. I have no doubt that he found the "sofa sessions" demeaning over time, and it's also easy to see things differently when you watch the shows in the 3rd person versus when it's happening live. It was clear that a better title for the show was "Kate Plus Her Eight Kids... and that guy that can never do anything right!" It's foolish to think that the show didn't act as at least a catalyst. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a "Jon-backer" as I think his reaction to the situation was far from acceptable.

if possible, I dislike kate even more she is self-centered and self absorbed i don't think either one of them did anything to fix the marriage, however if i, as no more than an outside observer, who is basing my comments upon what has been presented by j and k on thier tlc show, would have to say that kate is 90% to blame for this situation

They both were out and about, he with his 'friend', and Kate promoting her book..that comes with territory when you write a book. He gave as good as he got, he was just quieter about it. They were not meant to be a couple, IMO and haven't meant to be for a long time. When it got harder for him, and he had to actually be home and be with his kids, he whined about it and partied at night.

He's already said there is a schedule for being with the kids, but it might change if he gets a job. Perhaps he ought to move in the same town, and get a job close to his kids, so the 'schedule' won't have to change. Oh, but then if he doesn't get a job, he may have to stay at home with the kids, when Kate is out on the next book tour. And he's made it clear what he thinks about that.

Kate said she would have like to fix things, and make some changes in how she was toward Jon..but she said he wouldn't even discuss it. He says he's excited about moving on.

I don't blame it all on the show either.. A long, long time ago - way before Jon got up the nerve to "jab" back at Kate - I said he would walk out someday.. But the simple fact that the marriage may have dissolved even without the show does not make it okay for them to splash this all over tv with no consideration for their children.. Even if they told them prior to the show, does anyone think they said all of the things they said about each other on the show?? The rag sheets are going to have a field day with this - and as usual, the kids will pay the price..

I'm also quite tired of Kate playing the "victim" of circumstances she has chosen to continue on with..

Do you consider of father of 8 young children who stays out at bars with 23 year old girls and parties responsible? What if he has an affair with her? As far as Kate being all over the country...those engagements were supposed to be both of them in the beginning. Jon then decided he didn't want to do them so he stayed home (or went to the bars I guess!) and then resented Kate for following through with their plan. Jon even said in his People Mag. interview that he liked doing the show in the beginning because it was fun but then it became like work and he was unhappy. Look at his job history too. Pretty sketchy. Now he's looking for an apartment in NYC which isn't all that close to PA if I'm correct. He complained about having to stay home with the kids but didn't want to work either. He even said that if someone offers him a job, he'll change his schedule. If he's so unhappy then why doesn't get a job? So all of that to say yes, I do believe he's irresponsible. He doesn't want to do the work of the show but wants to enjoy the $ it brings.

Just try and remember, Jon and Kate do everything for their kids:
1. They bought the house with the kids money for the kids.
2. Jon & Kate have their teeth whitened--for the kids.
3. Kate has a tummy tuck and breast lift--for the kids.
4. Jon gets his ears pierced--for the kids.
5. Jon gets a 2 seater sports car--for the kids.
6. Kate buys a brand new SUV--for the kids.
7. They exploit their kids for freebies and trips--for the kids.
8. Jon got hair plugs--for the kids.
9. Kate gets manicures, pedicures, new hairstyle, new wardrobe--for the kids
10.They announce their seperation on national TV--for the kids!!

Lets hope everyone stops watching this train wreck and those poor kids get counseling to salvage some of their childhood. Shame on you TLC.

I was very disappointed when Jon said that. If I were about to be without my children on a daily basis I would see no excitement in that....only sadness. Jon and Kate are both to blame for the situation. Kate being so harsh with Jon all these years and Jon for allowing it. Jon for being a child instead of an adult and Kate for letting the resentment get the best of her. Both of them for not getting counseling and trying to save this marriage.

Jon is wanting to be 20 years old again. For those of you that are saying you can't believe that Kate is going to continue filming...well Jon isn't stopping it either, not while looking at $3,000 a month apartments. So is he expecting phone calls to come pouring in on job offers?

Some people have stated that the filming is familiar for the kids and maybe the best thing for awhile. I think there is a great deal of truth to this and hadn't thought of it before. I sure enjoyed watching those little ones tonight, such blessings.

My heart is very heavy for this family tonight and I will say extra prayers for all of them. Now I think I will go tell my husband how much I love him.

I wonder how many groups , churches or otherwise, have cancelled Kate as a speaker?
And how many book stores will be requesting her now?
Maybe she won't have a career outside of the show to take her away from home anymore.

that's the part I can't get over. they've claimed this is all for the kids, and they aired it on national TV.

well, that and I can't get over that my prediction was wrong.

they've promoted the encore twice on Cake Boss in the last 10 or 15 minutes.

Kind find the original post that you quoted from, but I noticed a long, long time ago that Kate always referred to the children as "my" kids; "my" house; "my" life - whereas Jon usually used the terms "our" children, "our" lives, "our" house.. As a 42 yr old "child" of divorce (30 years ago!), it made me sick how Kate said that she was going to get every holiday with them. Holidays are the hardest for kids of divorce, and she's going to get into a tug of war with John over them?!? Urrrrgh!! And you can't tell me that things weren't breaking down when they went to Hawaii to renew their vows, so how hypocritical was that? And those two poor dogs will be in rescue the minute John is legally out of the house, I know it.

OK, I have to go hug my husband now.

Prayers to those poor children, not because they are the casualties of divorce, but because its been played out in public the way it has.

Now he's excited about this new chapter in his life. Yet he's still doing the show isn't he. Why is everyone pinning this whole thing on Kate? They are both responsible for their decisions.

I don't get all the 'the shame on you TLC'...I don't think they gave Jon and Kate their personalities and attitudes. I don't think the show would continue without the ratings. Who should be blamed for that?

Jon and Kate have jabbed at each other from the very begining. I just watched some tapes of season one this afternoon, and even then, he was rolling his eyes and making little remarks both without being provoked and after being provoked. That was when I thought this marriage was on it's way out. Neither showed respect. It's taken a long time for it to finally end, but I think the kids will be happier for it. They said they argued in front of the kids, and it was time to stop the arguing.

I have no idea what would happen if they tried to back out of the show. I don't know what is in the contract, if it's illegal, or money payments or having to pay back sponsors for 40 shows or what.

I assume next weeks and prob a few more are pretaped. I'll have to see what happens after that as to what the show shows, if the show continues after the shows that are already taped.

I remember Lucy and Ricky, wayyy back when, and how he cheated on her when their show and marriage was ending. I was very young at the time, and I'm sure I didn't understand much and actually learned more about them when a special was run, years later. The special talked a lot about Ricky, and it sounds so much like Jon. He was ready to check out and party. Lucy went on with the show. Doesn't have a lot to do with anything, but it sounds like history repeating itself. Of course their kids weren't part of the show at that time..but I just find it interesting.
