I'm personally saddened by the whole thing. I know it's been coming for months, but still it's so incredibly sad to think of these kids involved in all of this. I hope and pray this show ends for the kids sake. As for Jon and Kate, I hope they find peace and focus on raising those kids instead of making a profit.

That will bring them peace. Those two do not belong together anymore. Staying married for the sake of the children - or for the sake of the money - is destructive not construcive. The sooner the better. Those kids need TWO happy parents.

I mentioned earlier....NYC is the perfect place for jon since there would be so many opportunities for tapings in the city when they visit dad. The show must go on and i believe TLC has something to do with the choice of NYC.

Divorce likely is the announcement, but I'm very surprised they filed today. Divorce filings are public record so they had to know the minute they filed it would be news, with all the hype about the announcement, they wouldn't wait one more day and file tomorrow? Weird.

A divorce can bring peace in a way. If they are constantly fighting things can't be too peaceful and maybe there is more to it than just the divorce where the peace part comes in.

I suppose, but I think People said the apartment he was looking at was a one bedroom. He couldn't have the kids stay with him if that's correct. He would need at least 4 bedrooms to have all the kids stay with him. If he is seriously looking at NYC, I think it's because it is where he wants to be.

That's where I got off the "Team Jon boat". If you're getting a divorce, fine. But if you have a choice to live wherever you want.....you get yourself a house/condo/apt in the same town so you can see your kids.

I was re-reading the People Mag. article that Kate did in May regarding Jon's partying ways, etc. Then I read the article Jon did and boy is it interesting...

Jon Gosselin wanted to leave home this weekend, and then he remembered he's a reality show star, paparazzi target and a married man suspected of infidelity. "I just wanted to take my car out, listen to music and calm down," he says. "But it was 11 at night. How is that going to look?" Things haven't been looking great for Jon ever since reports about him stepping out on his wife began to surface in February. Jon denies cheating on Kate but admits, "I've been hanging out and partying with friends, perhaps a bit too much. But that's all it ever was." According to Jon, he was poorly prepared for all the attention that comes from fame. "In the beginning I was having fun," he says. "It's really becoming work now." And the stay-at-home dad would just like a break from his job once in a while. "I'm Jon Gosselin, not Jon & Kate Plus 8," he says. "I got married at 22, had twins at 23 and the sextuplets at 27. I wouldn't have it any other way but I never went out in my 20s." Now it seems he might not be getting out much in his 30s either. "I'm not going to a bar or any club right now.... I have to be extra careful about how I spend my time in public." That change upsets the self-described "extreme extrovert," but Gosselin knows his priorities: "I will do anything to protect my family."

How irresponsible does he sound? He liked the show in the beginning because he was having fun but then it became work so he was unhappy. Hello! Did you think that you could cruise through life and not work, only have fun? He feels he never got to experience his 20's since he got married at 22. Clearly he is experiencing it now. Again, what married man of 8 young kids goes out partying at a bar till 2 am with a 23 year old girl? A stupid one, IMO. I'm tired of his argument that he married young, had kids young, didn't get to experience his 20's. The reality is that life is work. People (unless you're Paris Hilton!) can't party all the time or shirk their responsibility. He's married with children. Goodness, if my DH acted that way I'd freak. Talk about a mid-life crisis. For all those advocates out there concerned for the kids' welfare and think they are being exploited, Jon clearly said he doesn't feel the kids are. So you (general you) can't pin that one on Kate. And Jon is apartment hunting in NY city? That doesn't really sound like he wants to be close (geographically) to his kids. When my parents divorced we were still only 20 min. from my Dad's new house and that was important. How often is Jon planning to see them then? I know I'm speculating here but it just chaps my hide that he'd consider somewhere far like that after stressing how he's 'here for his kids'. Doesn't add up.

Apparently Radaronline.com questioned Jon today at his grocery store...

Jon Gosselin doesn't seem too fazed by his big "life-changing" announcement with Kate on tonight's show.

When asked by RadarOnline.com at the grocery store today if he'd be happy when the much-discussed episode is over, a calm Jon said: 'Well, today's just another day."

Jon added that he has "no idea" when Kate would be coming home.

"I've been by myself for four days," he said. But when asked if he's happy she's gone, he said: "No, because I'm down a person."

He did say the kids were anxious for their mom to return, although when asked if he knew where she is and when she'd return to their $1.1-million estate, he answered "nope" to both.

Jon gave another impromptu press conference to fans and reporters Sunday afternoon -- Father's Day.

He told onlookers that he wasn't speaking to Deanna Hummel -- the school teacher with whom Us Weekly first reported he was having an affair -- "as much" since "the things went down."

When pressed to confirm if he and Kate were announcing a divorce during Monday's hour-long special, Gosselin -- who was spotted apartment hunting in NYC last week -- said you'd have "watch the show."

Love how he says he's not talking to Deanna as much since he was accused of the affair.

1. WHY have the wedding vow renwal?

2. WHY move to a huge house if you knew you were going to split up? (and I think they knew long before that move)

I've been saying for awhile that Jon wants to have his cake and eat it too. He wants all the money, perks and freebies, but he also wants to be able to go out and do whatever he wants and have no one bother him or take pictures or talk about seeing him out. Sorry Jon, you can't turn it off and on. You can't just be a "celebrity" when you feel like or when it's convienant for you. He truly does not seem to get that.

I think it all has to do with the show. I was one of those people defending the show and the Gosselins, saying they were getting a bad rap. Now, I think maybe a lot of the speculation is true. The money got to their heads. They went to Hawaii and renewed their vows because TLC paid them to do so. As for the house, I think Kate knew it was for her and the kids all along.

I suppose they'll do a split of the assets, and if what you read about how much they are paid per episode is true, there's probably a good amount of $$ there. But Trump Tower - so his 8 kids are going to visit him in Trump Tower? I'm sure it's a lovely place and very roomy, but you would think a man with 8 kids would want a place with a yard and all that.

I don't think it was Trump Tower but Trump Place, which is on the Upper West Side along the Hudson River.
