They are animal loversDS will just go with the flow he likes animals to but the girls are really like animal nutz!

Life is what happens in between trips to WDW
Those "flying cookies" flying through space can be seen
I'm hoping that the little guy likes them!

They were $4 last year, my brother and his family stayed there. Claire is too cute, maybe she talk your DH into another trip .

No ressie needed. Believe it or not most people don't go there. There's a lot to do at Ft Wilderness and any Disney resort guest is welcome there for the campfire singalong. There's also a huge stable full of the MK horses. It was being refurbed this time though. If you love horses you definitely want to check it out!

It feels so long away right now. I have a lot going on this Summer though so hopefully the time will fly by!

Thomas would love the ponies. Kaylee is too tall. She could ride the big horses though. We're trying the HDDMR next trip. I've never been. We did the backyard BBQ last time though and it was a blast! Best part...all the ice cream you could eat! YUM.

The campfire is fun too! Chip and Dale come out and hang with everyone!

The first year we did free dining it started on Aug 13th and we stayed until the 23rd. That worked out great and we came home the weekend before school started. Since then it hasn't worked out for us but all is good now. I plan to start school this year in late July. That way when we go to Disney we can have fun and take a few days off from school.

Our HDDMR is pretty late but we may have time for the campfire before!? I'll look back through my old Ft Wilderness papers and see what time that stuff started. Ponies stop going @ 5 I think. I'm sure you can get a better answer on the Ft W board.

$5 now. They were $3 last time we did 'em. All the money goes to the horses though so that's okay. So why don't ya'll go back for free dining? Skip seems like the type who'd love a great deal and $84 a night plus free food....doesn't get much better than that!

Aw thanks! I wish she could.

Tammy, free dining goes on during big time farming season. They have lots going on with hay and harvesting as well. And it's at the end of tractor pulling season as well. Pretty much my DH just has an excuse every year.
For some reason every year he wants to go in April. I tell him that is the worst month and so busy and then we go in March. He doesn't get the whole things on sale and/or booking ahead of time either. If I get a PIN for the free dining in Dec this year like I did last year, I may press him though. Claire's b-day is Dec 10, and that would be fun to go then. I really doubt it would happen, but I may ask if that deal comes out again.

For sure. I bet the big stable is back open now too. I'll have the pony pics up later today!

Well they all poop. There's even more coming up....LOL You can ride the big horses too. Those are up at the front though. The ponies are out near the boat landing.

I had a pony when I was little. I miss Trigger.

I am hoping for an offer. I hear some people are getting them already. Last year anyone with a Disney Visa could do it. We went the week before Christmas...left on the 22nd I think. It was fine our week but that last night was miserable and people were elbow to elbow. I would never go that week....free dining, free Grand Floridian....NO WAY! Well, I might go and eat and hang at the resort but I'd never go to the parks! The week we're all planning to go is a "pin" week. Everyone is getting those room only pins and it makes Pop right at $50 a night! Of course free dining is much better. I'm hoping for that....I'd change resorts in a skinny minute!

That stinks. My SIL said there is a weight limit for the ponies (80 lbs.) but not a height limit I guess that changed since they went in October. I'm definitely hoping to go to HDDR or maybe BYBBQ next trip .

Pony Rides!

PONY TIME!!!! It had been over a year since we did the pony rides and they went from $3 to $5 per ride, but that's okay. All the money goes to the pony care. Last time we visited the farm had other types of animals throughout. This time it was all ponies. Be warned!!! Nose plugs are needed in this area. LOL Anyway, we go up to the ride area and we had to wait about 15 minutes for the lady to finish watering the ponies. BabyDS was so ready to ride. Finally.....

He's on! Yay.

Isn't he a cutie? We got Levi again.

He was having a great time!

Then Levi stops to um...relieve himself.

And if things couldn't get any worse picture wise something gets Levi excited. Geez.

And then it was time for Levi to go back to the barn

More Fort Wilderness coming up...

There is a height limit on the ponies and an age restriction and weight limit on the big horses. DD wasn't old enough for the big ones and too tall for the ponies. She was mad! Poor thing. They've always checked the height....since our first visit anyway. That was in Dec '06. Seems like they had a scale too but they never weighed my kids. We're trying out HDDMR this next time if all goes as planned.

I totally hear ya! Same here. We just repainted a lot of the house and now we're starting in the yard.

loved loved loved your pics of the kids at WL! i can't wait to stay at that place. Do it at Christmas. That's the best time. Or just visit and skip the ugly rooms.

Oh no. That's sad. When we first moved to this land I live on now it had a huge barn on it. I wanted a pony so my daddy bought me one. I was an only child and I was totally spoiled. I had my pony for a while and then one day while my dad was feeding it the pony kicked him in his butt. Not long after my pony was sold to the highest bidder. If this scanner will work I'll put on some pics. My kids would love to see them too.
