Finally, a quick review of our Dec 13-19 vacation!
Our third trip to CSR was a good one. Our room was in Casitas 4, 2nd floor.
The reviews, the Pros: -room available early-1:30pm on our check-in day, we had a continuing reservation and didn't need to transfer to another room -very close to Bus Stop 2 -quiet, except for noisy neighbors our first night (they arrived back from the parks after midnight with lots of running, door slamming and yelling to each other )-quick walk to El Centro (less than 5 minutes) and the Main pool (less than 10 minutes?) -queen beds -mousekeeping did a great job -still amazed by the excellent bus service, especially when leaving the parks. The CSR bus stop is so close to the park exits. Rarely had to wait for a bus, and never rode a bus that was too crowded. On two occasions, we were the only people on the bus -Pepper Market food was great! -Swam in the Main pool our last night, around dinner time. Water was nice and warm, pool not too crowded, and friendly life guards on duty. (We knew there was snow waiting for us back home, so we really appreciated a nice warm swim). -No problems with any convention people. The Cons: -the "Quiet Pool" was closed and being worked on our first couple days. On check-in day, the front desk made no mention of the closing -only that the pool closed at 9:00pm . Thankfully, our first couple of days were cooler, so we weren't looking to swim.-We don't really spend lots of time at the room, but the view was disappointing. We were looking at a courtyard, that somehow managed to be less attractive than the parking lot view we had last year. Summary: We still love CSR and wish we were there right now!

Can someone explain the fax request thing? I have been on the disboards for many years, and years ago faxing the room controller was all the rage until it got out of hand and disney put it's foot down and refused to allow it anymore. Now I read that faxing is going on again, at least at CSR (I can't say I have read it is happening at other resorts). Will someone give me the scoop? Is this a necessary thing to do? Will my chances of getting my room requests be greater if I fax than if I have it noted on my existing reservation? What are the advantages to sending a fax? I plan on doing the advanced online checkin next month, for my CSR trip, which also will give me an opportunity to make special requests. |

This might be old news...I haven't been visiting the DIS lately, but I received a call for a comp. upgrade from CSR concierge room to lagoon view concierge at either BC or YC.
The CM said the soft-opening of CSR concierge hadn't gone as planned and they'd be revamping, but maybe that was a cover for over-booking? My DH had a ressie too, and they called and made the same offer to him. This is for MLK weekend. Just FYI...

I've heard about the online check-in, but I don't know where to go to do it. I thought I may get an email, but I haven't seen anything yet. We check-in this weekend.

I hadn't done my research on BC in January before choosing it, what's up with the pool? Is it closed for renovation? I know it's January, but I'm hoping we'll get to visit it at least once.

I can answer one of your questions, CC!!
10 is considered an adult at Disney-great, huh? My DD who is 10, just thinks that is the greatest!! I *think* (about 99% here) that your baby will be free. The only thing that you would have to pay for for her is if you were to order her own meal at either a sit down restaurant or counter service. HTH!!!

Update:
This is what I was told. That for the foreseeable future, CSR will only use the rooms as Business Club Level for convention groups that book those rooms. Otherwise they will be used for leisure guests but the lounge will not be open to them. So I don't know if foreseeable future means forever or until they straighten out the kinks since the concierge rooms didn't go as planned and they are going back to the drawing board.
So for those heading to CSR, go ahead and request cabana 9b if that is your choice. |

Has anyone had breakfast at the Maya Grill. Is it good? Are ADR's necessary? My DH and I are going down and want to be flexible about breakfast.

Its a pretty good buffet. The price isn't bad either. We just walked in without any ADR's and got in right away. Most people use Cafe Rix or the PM for a quicker breakfast.

When I was there in April of 2008, I called the afternoon before and made a reservation for breakfast buffet the following morning... lots of openings/times available.. I had no problem picking a time that I wanted.

Refillable mug ques...
I thought there was a time when Disney switched over to the Year of a Million Dream mug that CSR still had the one's specifically for their resort. If that were true, is that still the case.

Yes, CSR still has their own mug and not the Year of a Million Dream mug.

I am wanting to stay at CSR but am wondering, how the best way to make my room request in hopes of guaranteeing a renovated room?
