If you buy any points direct, only those points will be unrestricted. Your resale points are still under the restrictions in place when they were purchased.

2) DVD will tell you about foreclosures and they will tell you about it.
Doubt it....DVD exercises ROFR and acquires points through foreclosures so that they can turn around and sell them at full price. You will not be able to negotiate a price if you buy direct. They offer incentives and they are what they are...no negotiating.

Not sure where this guy got his information...perhaps he is referring to a resale broker and not an actual DVC guide.

No, if you have some contracts resale and some direct, you can only use the direct points to book DCL or other restricted exchange.
However if you have even a 25 points contract direct, you can book the members cruise. Maybe that is what he was referring to.

About foreclosures, never heard of it.
