Jessica and Ryan's SBP/Ariel's Wishes Wedding 9/30/13

Hi! After spending months lurking on these boards, I decided I would start my very own PJ once we sent in our LOA. We just sent it to Pam yesterday, and I couldn't be more excited!

I hope you'll enjoy following along as I figure out how to keep my wedding gorgeous and stay at the Disney Special Pricing minimum of $10,000. I'm willing to sacrifice floral, except for personal -- my detailed Excel sheet says it's possible... we'll see.

So, I guess I'll start by introducing us:

Meet Jessica:

I'm 21, and I just graduated from the University of Florida! Woo Go Gators! I graduated with a degree in Public Relations, so that's what I'm doing for a job now in Raleigh. I'm a Florida native; I'm originally from Ft. Lauderdale, went to high school in North Florida near Tallahassee and went to college in Gainesville, which is only 1.5 hours from the happiest place on earth I also have a miniature dachshund that I have to mention. His name is Samson. He's adorable.

Meet Ryan:

Ryan is 23 and also a graduate of UF! His degree is in nuclear engineering though; he's my genius Ryan's from North Florida, too. He likes animals and outdoorsy stuff. He's super sweet and excited about our Disney wedding! He's a big basketball fan, so I'll probably have plenty of time to journal while basketball season is here haha After graduation, Ryan got a job in Raleigh as an engineer, so I packed up and followed him!

How we met:

Ryan and I went to the same community college together back home and met through our college's quiz bowl team -- we're just a little nerdy. I was in a relationship when we met, but once that was over, I knew Ryan was the one. He transferred to UF a year before me, but once I moved to Gainesville, we were inseparable. We moved in together after 2 months of dating --risky, I know-- but, he's the best roommate I've ever had.

Proposal:

In March, 2012, I got bronchitis that turned into pneumonia. I woke up sick the day I was going to Disney World to audition to be a princess but, it didn't stop me from going haha. Anyway, I was sick for about a month. We still had our Christmas tree up, because I'm lazy, and when we returned from our Disney trip at the beginning of March I placed a hidden crystal Mickey on our Christmas tree but didn't tell Ryan where it was. So, one day, while I was sick and unsuspecting, eating ice cream on the couch, Ryan said, "Jessica, you never told me where the hidden Mickey was." I pointed to the top of the tree and said, "It's right there. Can't you see it?" "He said, "No, show me where it is." So, in all my sickly glory, I put down my ice cream, marched to the tree and said, "IT'S RIGHT HE..." That's when I noticed the most gorgeous ring hanging on my little green Mickey. I was surprised and speechless. I'm sure he thought I was going to say no because it took me so long to answer haha. But, I said yes, and I love the story. All of it -- the springtime Christmas tree, the hidden Mickey, the pneumonia, the gorgeous ring and my thoughtful fiancé.

Bridesmaids/Honeymoon res.

So, I'm having a great time finding bridesmaid outfits

I have four bridesmaids: my MOH, my cousin who I've been close with since birth since she's only 9 mos. older than me, my BF -- we've been friends since 8th grade, and I was just her BM last month, and my two friends from college.

Since they're all traveling to DW, I wanted to make the clothing as affordable as possible. I found these dresses online at ASOS for $43 on sale! I love them! Plus, since they're long they don't have to buy matching shoes.

This is a picture of me in the dress since I haven't seen them in it yet:

The dress has a sash that's the same color that goes around the waist, but I'm not wearing it.

Instead of flowers, I want to buy a clutch like this one I found on Etsy and add a salmon-colored flower (our colors will be mint, salmon and grey):

I'm going to give them the clutch as part of their bridesmaid gift, and it will save me from having to pay for bridesmaids bouquets!

Hotel arrangements:
I wanted to write about what I'm thinking for hotel arrangements and see what you guys think. I'm going to be renting DVC points for the first time for this trip, so I would appreciate any advice!

Since my FMIL doesn't drive, Ryan and I will drive to her house on Friday, drive her to Orlando on Saturday afternoon after she gets off work and take her to the parks on Sunday. I'm thinking about booking Saturday, Sept. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Boardwalk and sharing the room with her on the 28th. Sunday, I want to book a second room at OKW for the whole bridal party and FMIL can stay at the BWV on Sunday night as well. I want to book OKW since they have the biggest 2 bedroom suites.

How do you guys think that will work? Any advice for making sure I rent points from a trustworthy person? I'm waiting until Pam confirms that she has our LOA and the date is set in stone before I book the rooms!

Have you considered buying silk flowers?

You are right about OKW having the biggest 2 bedroom villa, actually they have the biggest 1 bedroom villa also since it was the first DVC resort built. I own DVC points there so if you have any questions at all about it please PM me and I will be happy to help you out! I am therefore a little biased when it comes to OKW I love the theming, the tranquility, one really great thing is you don't feel like you're in a hotel at all. Another thing that's cool is you can often see Epcot's fireworks from your balcony! It's really close to Epcot despite being classed as a Downtown Disney resort. Speaking of, you can also get a boat from OKW to DTD which is awesome.

Having said all that, I think it would be a great idea for you to stay at the Boardwalk since you're getting married there. It might make everything easier on the day and reduce your stress levels. In terms of renting points (which is a great idea by the way, it will save you a TON!) I would use David's DVC Rentals at dvcrequest.com I know a few people who have rented points from there and recommend it. You can also see how many points you'll need for each type of room at each resort and how much that will cost

I'm excited to follow your planning! I'm an October 2013 Bride

I considered silk flowers -- I just don't want to make the bouquets myself haha. I might find a seller on etsy if I change my mind! Are you using silk?

I went ahead and booked the DVC points! I booked one night at OKW for the bridal party and the week at Boardwalk. They were out of value views at the BWV already, so I had to go with a preferred view. I'm kinda excited though because we'll get a Boardwalk view that I've always wanted!

I'm jealous that you're a DVC member haha. Maybe one day we will be!

Congrats on your wedding!

Congrats! You'll love being at the Boardwalk, both for the wedding and after for F&W! It's become our favorite resort (granted, we might be a bit biased...).

Thinking of booking Beaute Speciale for hair and makeup. I'm nervous since I'm so picky about my makeup!

Did anyone go with them and wish they hadn't?
