Hey all!

We just hit the 100 day mark

so time to start a pre-trip report.

The crew:
Me (college instructor/volleyball coach)

dw - pooksma (sorry I'm not allowed to post pictures, it's like a hidden MeMom thing)

ds - Declan (8)

and a family of newbies - MomNewbie, DadNewbie, and two little Princesses.

It seems we are one person short of a Grand Gathering.

For those of you who don't know us, I should explain the title. This will be our 5th trip to WDW for pooksma and me but only the fourth ds (Declan). You see last year we were bad parents and went without him

. We hadn't really been away without him so we thought it was time for a mom and dad trip only. To this day, he doesn't know we went. We told him we were going to New England while he was at camp. It wasn't a total lie; we did drive to Bangor and fly from there.

This year's edition will take place between August 9th to 18th and we will be staying at POFQ. We have never stayed there before and are looking forward to a new resort. Pop is still my favourite but you need to try as many resorts as possible. We were suppose to stay there last summer but switched to CBR when a new deal was released.

We will also be traveling with another family for the first time. They are newbies and have left many of the decisions to us. No pressure! They have two young daughters who are huge fans of the Princesses. They are going to have a blast!

It is going to be a busy summer. Pooksma and the mother of our newbie family are attending a conference in Memphis in mid July (some kind of teacher thing). Declan will be attending a couple of camps, and I have coaching duties all summer with our Canada Games team. Our WDW trip comes right in the middle for me but it will be a nice break.

We are just waiting for the August hours to be released to set our ADRs; hopefully, that will be done later today.

I'm here and excited Declan gets to go this time. We aren't going to miss each other by much this year. We only have 85 days until we leave.

I know I got beat by a few others, my own daughter included, but at least I think I made page one!

I'm so glad we can talk about this trip out loud, since there's not a secret involved!

Ma's too cute to hide, so she has to come on out and be seen.

Can't wait to hear all about your plans, follow along on the wait, and then enjoy it all with you when the new school year starts!

We'll try to keep you entertained and up-to-date. Maybe even a ride on POTC in your honour.

After a good night's sleep, we were ready to roll for our 9:15 ressie at Ohana. As has become our tradition, we took Declan's pic before leaving the room. We started doing this in case he got separated from us at any point during the day.

Ready to go:

We took the bus to MK with Princess Aurora asking the entire drive "When will we get there?". Then we hopped the monorail to the Poly. Breakfast was great as always. I love,love,love that pinepapple bread and ended up wrestling newbie dad for the last piece.

This day was Princess Ariel's first character experience and began a trend of "I go, you hold me Daddy" for the newbs.

After breakfast, we headed to MK. As we learned our last trip, for us, we don't feel we've arrived at WDW until we get to MK. The dads made the first of many FP runs and got passes for BTMRR. While they were off to do that, we rode Dumbo. Then it was over to the Carousel, which became one of Princess Ariel's favourite rides.

Off to Philharmagic to cool down a bit. We had quite a long wait (for small ppl) for Dumbo and the temp was heating up. (Not that we complained, coming from a cool, wet July in Atlantic Canada)

The stars were ready to watch the show:

We used our FPs and the newbs got a kids swap.

This was great for all. It allowed one to ride with us and then the other took Declan and Princess Aurora on again. While over in Frontierland, we picked up FPs for Splash as well.

Next we headed to HM.

Princess Aurora decided she would ride with me. Unfortunately, in the stretching room she got scared and I had to use the exit. No big deal but I felt badly for her. (This fear would be conquored later in the trip, I am happy to say) I think the dark and the spooky voice was totally unexpected for her.

The Newbies decided they would ride IASW, which, those of you who have followed us before, know is Declan's favourite ride.

We made our way to POTC. I was glad to see that Jack was still there waiting for me

Now if they would just add Will, my life would be complete!

We met up again and everyone except Princess Ariel and I rode Splash. We waited and had a great chat. She told me all about "Small Worl" . Little did I know, this would be a hint of things to come.

Pooped out, we headed back to POFQ for a swim, a nap and later, supper from the food court.

Poor Ariel for missing out on Haunted Mansion!! At least you didnt have to sit next to David on that ride, who sings along at the graveyard scene!

Awesome, you rode POTC the first day! Can't wait to ride that one again.

So much fun hearing about your trip. Great pictures of POFQ. We've never been there or to Ohana's. Love seeing the pictures so much. Looking forward to more.

Loving the first bits! The 'Ohana breakfast always sounds so, so tasty - if it's even half as good as the dinner, I know I'll love it!

Great idea on taking a picture of your child before you leave the room.
