My heart feels a little broken tonight...

I'm finished with treatment and back at school, thankfully. There are lots of lasting side effects but I am alive and I still have my leg, all other things can be dealt with.

My heart feels a little broken tonight...

I am a two time survivor of osteosarcoma. I know that's kinda crappy to hear but I hope it provides you with some glimmer of hope. I was 14 when diagnosed, and relapsed this fall at 19. It sucks, and the treatment is by and large the worst part of it, but he can and will make it through. The...

    First Holiday without a parent

Hi guys! Don't know if some of you remember me, I was a teen poster a few years ago. I'm just looking for some advice or personal experiences to help me cope. I lost my dad on October 5th from lung cancer, he was 50 years old. I had found out in August that my own cancer had relapsed after...

Does anyone live near Tannersville PA?

Okay, yeah now I know where we're talking about. No, there's nothing there. There's a hotel (some chain, I can't remember the name) with a "Tandoor Palace" theme, but that's it. There's nothing back there.

Does anyone live near Tannersville PA?

Don't know what the Summit was, but there is a large outlet mall in Tannersville now, as well as a Great Wolf Lodge. Hope that helps!

I'm taking my first Ambien tonight!

BE CAREFUL! Oh, man. I remember the first time I took it, I was having trouble sleeping from chemo and melatonin was doing nothing so I got put on Ambien 2mg. OMG I fell asleep with the walls closing in on me, or at least I thought they were. ;) The hallucinations can be pretty bad. I woke up...

So wigs are considered medically necessary but hearing aids are not?

I'm not sure that you understand just how financially tolling having a member of your family battle cancer is. I was 14, I'm 17 now - it's not like I could've gone out and get a job to help pay for treatment. My mom had to quit her job to take care of me, so my dad was never home for my...

So wigs are considered medically necessary but hearing aids are not?

I wear hearing aids too, as a result of hearing loss due to chemotherapy drugs. My insurance company wouldn't cover the hearing aids because my hearing loss was "voluntary". What they meant was I "chose" to take chemotherapy drugs that had a chance of me losing hearing in order to save my life...

    Senior Pictures

The ones I took today are posted on my FB for anyone who's wondering. I'm preeeeeetty awkward behind the camera so that's why I'm trying to get ideas. We are allowed to take pictures outside of a studio, but we don't get caps and gowns to take photos in. Shelby, I like yours! You look so regal...

    Anyone here have tattoos?

Yep, it's my baby. It's a gold ribbon for childhood cancer on my right foot. I got it on my 16th birthday. I got it because I'm a surivior and I've lost some friends from it as well, so I like to keep them with me at all times. They "walk with me". :P
