Kirkwall is a lovely little town to look around, with a busy harbour, lovely individual shops and places to eat and of course, the cathedral. Several ferries also depart from Kirkwall harbour, to the outlying small islands. I am not sure about mentioning shop names in case that does against...

St Magnus Catherdral in the centre of Kirkwall is full of interesting details. (well to my eyes anyway :love:)

It also mentions that you will pass the Standing Stones of Steness, which are really close to the Ring of Brodgar. There are not as many stones still standing here, less of a circle, but still awesome nonetheless.

Here are the dramatic Cliffs of Yesnaby included in that tour, albeit that you will be visiting them in daylight. Sunset was at around 8pm last week and I can honestly say that the view was breathtakingly beautiful.

We always buy a Christmas ornament but have some other special mementos too. We have a carved soapstone "family" which I saw at AKL- Jambo House but ended up having to buy it in EPCOT at the Africa Trading Post because we needed the family of 4. :) We also have a framed print , again...
