First timers - lots of questions

You have gotten great advice, I only have one comment, similar to what lalasmama said. You know your kids best, but sometimes surprises aren't always awesome. We surprised our kids once and they didn't love the element of the surprise. We had a scavenger hunt where they found clues and had to...

    Disneyland table service

Just since no one else has suggested it, and we generally stay off-site, there are also lots of options for meals close by, particularly if you are done for the day at the park or wanting to take a break. We are always happy to eat some of our meals off-site for greater variety.

    CRITIQUE My Itineraries PLEASE

So very sorry for your loss. You are going to have an amazing time, making memories and remembering. Honestly, for such a special trip, I would plan less and allow for time to stop and smell the roses.

Just wanted to say this was such a kind, useful response :)

Courtyard Theme Park Entrance vs. DLH Villa

I am now so invested in your decision, you will need to report back, lol. This has helped me decided to look at booking courtyard for our next trip instead of the JW. So thanks for all the discussion!

Courtyard Theme Park Entrance vs. DLH Villa

I have stayed in a lot of boujee hotels, but I do not think it is worth $750 a night more to stay in the bubble. We were there in the summer and stayed at the Westin (I wanted club access and my husband has a lot of Marriott points) so walked from there and had zero issues, day or night. The...

Do you prefer cash or card in the parks?

I carry the barest minimum of cash anywhere I go. I have enough for small tips, everything else I use a card for. Can't think of the last time I paid a restaurant bill with cash!

    Bang for your Buck

Thanks for all of the awesome ideas. We have shared fried chicken in a couple of spots before, but didn't know of the breakfast ideas suggested, and a few new lunch ones too. And I agree, the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ was awesome for sharing! We have never made it over to Mimi's maybe this time!

    Bang for your Buck

I searched to see if this has been asked recently but didn't see anything in the past few years (but if it has, please point me to that thread). I have five kids, and generally like to do a couple of big meals out, and then keep the rest lower cost. I am wondering what you think are the best...

    Most comfortable hotel bed?

We stayed at the Westin this summer, and their beds are very comfortable. We walked both ways each day, but others feel it is a bit too far to walk.

Doing Work on a Disneyland Trip?

I can just 'work' just about anywhere, but if I need to take meetings, the places you indicated would be challenging (noise, etc.) I would suggest working from the lounge and scheduling meetings for when the family will be out of the room and using your room during that time.

    Marriott Sabal Palms

We didn't get asked about a timeshare thing at all-but we have five kids and so I suspect are their worst nightmare, lol. We found the walk to be about ten minutes and did it every morning for starbucks. The waterpark required booking/payment but using the MWC pools did not (in addition to the...

Disney Trip Reveal Ideas for Kids

We did an elaborate treasure hunt once. What we learned is one of our kids does not like surprises, lol. She was happy enough to go, but much prefers having some notice to process things. But other kids loved it. In hindsight, we should have known better-I don't love surprises either!

    Sharing Meals & Kids Meals

We share meals all of the time and have never encountered an issue (besides of the very rare 'splitting charge'). We generally get an appetizer or 2 and share an entree and dessert. We have shared dinner at Le Cellier in Epcot a couple of months ago, shared the soup (and I think maybe something...

Which Marriott MVC for most resort-like feel plus Disney & Uni?

The Marriott World Center has a pool bar and pool restaurant. But not at the timeshare spots directly-it is a very short walk however. The timeshare pool is very quiet-we always went over to the World Center-paid admission one day and did the waterslides and lazy river. The world Center pool...

Which Marriott MVC for most resort-like feel plus Disney & Uni?

I posted a review of Sabal Palms recently-we really liked having access to the Marriott world center, as it was much more of a resort feel. It was walkable to the World Centre and there were restaurants and such. I have stayed at several others (Grande Vista, Sheraton Vistana, etc.) and this was...

    Potty Training and WDW

As a Mom of five, I concur with all of this-potty training at home, versus in a new, big world is very different. Enjoy your holiday, use the pull ups as back up, celebrate if she is successful at using the potty on holiday, but otherwise relax. I wish I had stressed less about potty training...

Park bag for a 7 year old?

My girls have lululemon bags that are super small that they carry (wear cross body or as a fanny pack)-we carry water separate and mostly get cups of water rather than each carrying one. I am sure there are lots of lulu dupes on amazon.

Anyone travel to Disney with 3 under 3.

We have five kids, and at one time had three under three (plus 2 just over that age) and my husband and I took them by ourselves-it was complete madness but also super fun. They loved the rides, but also just loved playing at the parks, water features, etc. in the parks (the toon town one was a...

Is this accurate info on need to cancel party tickets?

You have gotten good advice thus far, but wanted to say I am so very sorry about his injury and the loss of your special trip. I hope his recovery goes well and you are planning a new trip soon.
