Natural Deodorant and my Armpits are on fire!

I switched to natural type deodorants back last summer used one brand that advertises heavily. It worked great until it didn't. Then, I switched to another natural brand and it's been working, no smell mostly, but....last week after using it for a couple of months, my arm pits are on fire! I...

At What Age Do You Not Replace a Dog?

I've had dogs all my life, from birth till now. We're in our sixties, active, happy, stable. I love herding dogs and the level of intelligence. We lost a 'heart' dog over a year ago and only have one dog. We have had multiples for the past 30 years. My dog is lonely. We miss having two. My...

Retired & No Desire to Travel....?

I'm 63 and my DH is a tad older. We aren't working, moved to a 55+ beautiful active neighborhood, have a dog and are financially stable. All of our friends are flying all over the world, month after month. I have zero desire to travel, except for an occasional trip to the beach, the mountains...

Mid to late April.... how is weather & crowds?

For years we went during this time to celebrate our anniversary. I have found the crowds to mostly be a 5 or 6 or maybe a 7 but doable. The weather can be hot. I would bring a small fan and plan to deal with the heat. You can def plan to lay by the pool. We've moved our trip back a month to...

Issue with Financial Planner--looking for thoughts/input

And.... If you want to stay all paper and not do banking online, maybe consider just getting daily balance emails every morning? I'm with what others said, maybe it's time to look elsewhere for a FP. That's a huge error.

Issue with Financial Planner--looking for thoughts/input

So glad the money is back!! You say you don't like online banking..... It's very important that you realize that all, and I mean ALL of your banking is online. And everybody can see it online. Everyone but you. By not embracing and learning how to safeguard yourselves, you are opening...

    Carnivore and other trendy diets

I have three friends on the highly restrictive carnivore diet. Meat, eggs, hard cheese, & butter only. One has touted all the health changes she has seen, all for the better. The others have lost some weight. One was trying to convince me it was the way we were intended to eat, but I'm not...

    Any "Reacher" fans? Possible spoilers

I really really enjoyed season 1, albeit there were a couple gruesome scenes I wish I could un-see. Season 2, I'm having to force myself to continue watching. Too much talk, not enough plot development or surprises. Not sure we'll keep up with it, but I agree that Alan R is doing a fantastic...

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

Well how exciting!! I love Brian Lagerstrom's beginner recipe for sourdough on youtube. The only thing I do different that he didn't do, is I ALWAYS put my dutch oven on top of another pan to prevent overbrowning. Also, I do 3-4 stretch and folds, not the 2 he calls for. I do what is called the...

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

Yes, I got mine from King Arthur, it was around ten bucks, came in a little jar with instructions on how to feed once it arrived. I liked it because it came from a 100 year old starter.

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

I haven't tried to make my own starter but getting one ready to go is a great way to start. Mine was from a 100-year old 'mother' starter and it's bubbly and so active every time I feed.

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

Right now I'm working on what jar I want to use. My first was too narrow. Then too small. Now I'm using a pickle jar which is great, but I'd love a straight wall weck jar. I do like to keep a decent amt of starter so I can share, and I keep a back up jar or two in a quart mason jar. Sharing a...

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

Starter fed with potato flakes makes potato bread. While utterly delicious and something I used to make, this is 100% different. This only has flour and water and wild yeast caught from the environment. It creates an amazing thing for the gut as my acid reflux has disappeared.

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

Some starter info: You can make your own 'wild yeast' starter at home, but it can take two weeks before it's ready to use. I spent ten bucks and ordered one from KA flour company. It came in a little jar and I fed it, per the instructions. People who bake constantly keep the jar of starter out...

    SOURDOUGH! Calling all bakers!

Who here bakes sourdough bread with a starter? Let's start a thread so we can discuss recipes, methods, tools, tips and tricks. I got a hefty 'challenger' look a like for christmas and I need a new set of potholders! What have you? I'm working through several different recipes, trying to see...

Are we all 'skinny challenged' compared to the world?

OP here. I read an interesting article stating that physicians were uncomfortable bringing up a patient's weight. They were afraid to offend the patient. Well..to that I would say that I wish my doctor HAD had a talk with me. I remember going to see him and asking him what these odd little...

Are we all 'skinny challenged' compared to the world?

I've thought back to growing up in the 60s and 70s. Everyone's mamas and daddys were thin. Mama stayed home and did house chores. She didn't exercise, nor did Grandmama. They sewed and cooked and cleaned. No aerobics and pilates. But they were skinny. We ate honey buns and pound cake and ate...
