We lucked out our last time there then.... We planned to boondock somewhere on the way down, prob SC or GA. I said "screw it, lets see if we can come in late tonight". We called WDW reservations and the CM said sure they have a site you may have to change it in the morning and it will be full...

My wife surprised me with this the other day. Spent many hours there in the late 80's and early 90's when we stayed at the Fort. I remember the slides that terminated mid-air into the water seemed like they were 40 feet high but now I see they were about 5' above the water.

Another tip is (this probably goes without saying but) keep your eye on them. The slide supervision is pretty much minimal if any. So though your kids may be listening and following the rules there may be others around them that are not... I was nervous not for my DD so much as some other kids...

Our first trip there last summer was 16 nights. I honestly could have stayed another week. We were towing from CT so I wanted to stay and enjoy it and we skipped 2015 in order to go that long (save up money, PTO, etc).

How about watching Wishes (or whatever will be at MK now) barefoot in the sand with a beer and then when its over being back at your "room" minutes later?

I was really disappointed that they had no logo on them. Just a simple Fort Wilderness logo would make them a "resort specific" merchandise.
