    Treadmill runners, click here

I have a NordicTrack C series (can't remember the number, ~9 years old) that has held up to a LOT of miles since I live in Canada and hate running in the cold, rain, snow, ice, etc. Being an older model, it has no bells and whistles, just tracks distance, speed, elevation. It maxes out at 12...

    Princess Weekend 2020

So my first runDisney event is in the books! Traveled solo to run the half as a bucket list dream run (thanks Rachel Hollis for the inspiration of going for my dream!). It was a bit of an up and down weekend emotionally - some mom-guilt about being away and some up and downs about traveling...

    Caution for Costa Rica travelers

These are not brands I recognize from any of the stops on our Costa Rica tour in July - which occurred just before this story broke internationally. If you are concerned, just stick to beer and wine!!!

Insiders program is only available to US residents?

Yes - this is my issue. I can do without the gifts - I'm sure they are fun for those who get them but I don't spend those kind of $ (At a terrible rate for the Canadian dollar!) to get a free movie ticket. But I do expect to be treated like a valued customer.

Insiders program is only available to US residents?

Really ABD? Insiders program is only available to US residents? I get that maybe they don't want to send any of the gifts to Canada, but does this mean I also don't get any of the other advantages - booking early on release days, discount on my next ABD if booked within 45 days, etc...

Costa Rica July 13-20, 2019 live

Day 2 had us heading over the continental divide to raft in the Sarapiqui River. It was pouring rain just we pulled into the rafting company, but it magically stopped and we had beautiful weather for our 75 minute or so rafting trip. Lots of competitive splashing between rafts - don’t expect...

Costa Rica July 13-20, 2019 live

Figured I would try a live mini-report! DH, DS 15, DS 13 and I flew from Toronto this morning and arrived in San Jose around noon. Easy to meet the ABD contact, had a porter assigned to grab our bags (one of which took forever!) andbthen a driver to the Marriott. Met our guides Fico and...

Europe ABD with 6 year old

You might also want to consider a Mediterranean cruise. We did this (with Disney) when our boys were 7 (turned 7 on the trip) and 9. Gave the best of both worlds - great international experiences with the comfort of something familiar every night. Also meant only unpacking once!!! We had a...

    Tipping guides

I would rather not carry that much cash with me. Do most of the guides take e-transfers now?

Just Back from Costa Rica - our first ABD

We are on the July 13 departure. If you do come, your daughter will be in good company - lots of 15 and 16 year old girls on this trip last time I checked. We will survive the early mornings - and we have 4 days booked at Tamarindo beach after the ABD portion to recover and really relax!

Just Back from Costa Rica - our first ABD

Thanks for your report vikequeen! We head to Costa Rica on our first ABD in July. Sounds like our group will be a mix of older kids 11-18 - which will be perfect for my 13 and 15 year olds. But your comment about early mornings worries me with teenagers! Are they all early wake up calls...

    ABD Rhone River Cruise

Thanks! I've checked them out before too. I should have specified "adrenaline junkies" instead of active since they are also lazy - hiking or biking all day is not their idea of fun! I'm thinking I can book the regular AMAwaterways cruise and schedule some of our own activities in the various...

Packing question for those that have been to Costa Rica

Does anyone know if being paid in full for, but not actually going on, your first ABD qualifies you as a "past guest"? Would love to book early

    ABD Rhone River Cruise

Hoping with the kayaking and truffle hunting it might be enough to pique my boys' interest, but not sure it will. I personally love the itinerary! Might book anyways, see if I can find a pre or post trip option that will help sway them...

    ABD Rhone River Cruise

I agree. We have already done Paris on our own, with some great private tours from Paris Muse (including a treasure hunt in the Louvre) when the boys were younger. I am not interested in paying for a river cruise that includes time in Paris, so hoping this one starts in Lyon like the existing...

    ABD Rhone River Cruise

Those are the best kind of places - the locals have teenagers too, I'm sure there are great places to be found! As a kid I lived in Switzerland and we did a school trip canoeing and kayaking through rapids in the Ardeche Valley in southern France, so I know there are great options along the...

    ABD Rhone River Cruise

I didn't say they weren't family friendly, just that I don't think it will be right for MY active teenage boys! We had the Rhine river cruise booked, which has lots of great excursions with canoeing, winter sports park, etc but have since switched to ABD Costa Rica because of the whitewater...

    ABD Rhone River Cruise

Tauck has a family river cruise on the Rhone that starts with 2 days in Paris before taking the TGV to Lyon. I looked at that and the current AMA Rhone cruise and although I would love it, I'm not sure it's the right trip for my teenage boys! I'm also curious to see if ABD does anything different.
