    Dining plan confusion!

Typically you can (they even mention it in the brochure now), but it's not a very economical use of the plan. There's a lot of math behind it, but each TS credit costs roughly $37.50, and your average QS meal will be in the $15-17 range. However, if you're utilizing the Free Dining room...

    Watching NFL game in DIsney

They had it a couple weeks ago, so that will be the best "for sure" bet. Other sports bar-type locations (ESPN Club, etc) would also work, but seating may be limited (though, for a Thu game, I don't think it would be too bad)

    Non disney hotels getting FP+

The problem with that is that the user-base at S/D is likely made up of roughly the same ratio of planners vs spur of the moment visitors that the Disney resorts are, and likely the percentages for MDX accounts and usage are roughly similar. As such, using the S/D guests as pilots for that test...

    Need DXDP Advice Please!

Good choices. I have much <3 for Jiko (2010, 2011, 2012), Yachtsman (2010, 2012), AND Artist Point (2010, 2011, 2012). Last time I went to Citricos was in 2010 and it was excellent, just haven't been back for a bit. Last trip to FF (2011, 2012) was OK, but that happens from time to time...

Should I be booking sooner than I usually do? Been a couple years since I've gone...

If you know when you're going and where you want to eat on those days, go ahead and make ADRs when it's 180 days from that date of dining. You don't need a resort reservation to do this (I've done it a few times when I delayed booking my trip). You won't get the "+10" perk, but otherwise you can...

    Need DXDP Advice Please!

Fourthing? this! It's typically going to be the best balance between value and quantity (alternatively, a character breakfast and earlier signature dinner also works out well.)

    Time to Stir the Pot

This, this, this, and so much this. And that's an absolute this! :) The only absolute of the dining plans is that there is no absolute. The dining plan can work well if you're doing character meals. As pointed out, it is not necessarily always the case. The dining plan can "waste" money...

    11/9 - 11/15 Trip Upcoming

    1) Yes. There are a couple different courses. Fantasia Gardens and Winter-Summerland. I've not done either, so I can't expand on that, but it may be worthwhile to look them up. Bonus for Winter-Summerland since it's "attached" to Blizzard Beach making it a simple bus ride away. 2) In a sense...

Can I get away with not full length of stay DDP

Yes. The SSR plan would be "active" from the moment you check in until midnight following checkout. Then the AKL one would activate when you check into there. You WILL have to check into AKL before it's active, but so long as you're not hoping to use it for an early breakfast on the 24th, you...

do many people pay for dining plan?

"Worthwhile" is completely, 100%, totally, indubitably subjective and depends on many, many variables. Without writing a book, as Nala said, for some it is, for others it isn't. Finding which method works best for you and the upcoming trip is what's important. As a note, I've done DDP free...

    Non disney hotels getting FP+

Yep. I tapped both my ticket and my KTTW card at different times to enter the FP+ line. I did the same thing to enter the parks as well. I did have a lot of ticketing issues* this year (not tied to MBs, directly.) During these issues, my KTTW card did not let me enter the park (but still...

The tickets should be on RFID media. So long as that ticket is connected to the MDX account, it should work. You do not need a physical MagicBand to utilize the FP+ system, as the readers simply read the unique id off of the RFID chip. This unique id is the key to the MDX account where...

Free Disney Dining Plan - Missed by a day

It totally depends on your definition of "Missed by a day" If you mean my dates were off by a day, then: e) Change my dates by a day f) See if there are room only discounts available that would save me more money anyway. Failing that, a mix of a) and c) (but the anger would be directed at...

    Non disney hotels getting FP+

As the system is today, the RFID tickets work for everything the MBs work for. Until the Active-RFID components come online, the only difference is form-factor. Once those active elements start coming out, Disney can (and likely will) promote the bands with the interactive stuff from that...

Changes Since Last Visit in 2011----NOT MB, FP+, etc.

The only RD show is at MK these days, all others have been dropped. (There may be a small CM thing depending on who's there and how they're feeling, but there's nothing big.) DHS sometimes does open the turnstiles early, the timing varies between about 15-30 minutes. It seems that this is up to...

Has it always been this way?

The forced cancellations were added with the previous release of the online ADR system (so, not the one you see today, but the one that came before it, which came out after 2010...) It typically checks for a reservation within a couple hours (it's inconsistent) of the one you're trying to make...

    Non disney hotels getting FP+

I'd venture to guess that it's due to resort stays, since those are currently the trigger for FP+ availability during the test. I don't think MDX plays very nicely with non-Disney reservations (it rarely plays nice with Disney reservations made through the app itself!) The load/crowd testing...

Do I need FP+ for BOTH Wishes and MSEP??

As a note, since it's not really on Robo's map (it's there, but not marked or labeled :p), as of 2 weeks ago, the MSEP FP+ viewing area was that top arc along the inside of the hub (facing the castle). It starts at the crosspath inside the hub on the right and I think it goes all the way over to...

First time in WDW with new DSLR

For me (since this is pretty subjective), I'll typically keep the camera on Av (Aperture Priority) while shooting outside. I do this as DoF is something that I want to control and shutter speeds aren't typically an issue. I also manually set the ISO to 100 or 200 if I can get away with it...

Nikon users prime lens 50mm or 35mm and why

While I'm not a Nikon shooter, I've used both a 50mm f/1.8 and a 30mm f/1.4 at WDW. I prefer the 30mm focal length by far (not just because of the wider aperture.) In fact, it's become my primary Disney lens even outside of the rides. For the D200, it's a 1.5x crop factor, so the 50 won't be...
