    Easter Supper

Friends of ours host Easter and their family tradition is Easter Tacos so tacos with all the fixins is what is on the menu. And what everyone else brings. I'll be taking deviled eggs and a couscous salad. I know someone else is bringing a taco salad and there'll be a veggie tray at the very least.

    SNACKS FOR THE PARKS

Honestly, it's vacation and I don't sweat it. One week of bad eating won't really impact her teeth or health overall. These aren't things she normally gets so I find it's not really a big deal. Yes, there are plenty of healthy options in the parks. Fruit and veggies are available at all the parks.

    Transitioning to NO stroller- ack!

I took DS for the first time just after he turned 5. I never used a stroller for him. He's an adult now and goes without me. DD is 6 and this will be her 5th trip and our first without the stroller for her. DH and I will both have Camelbacks and will split what we need for the parks. DD will...

    SNACKS FOR THE PARKS

Depends on the age of the kids involved. When DD was a toddler we took things like those Gerber puffs and Cheerio's. DD is 6 now. We just went out and bought her trip snacks last weekend. She will have gummy fruit snacks (Inside Out), the small boxes of Craisins and raisins, and the snack bags...

Best way to bring drinks to the parks?

We carry hydration packs too. I pack a Brita filter pitcher and pack the bladder full of ice then pour the water in. We refill with the free ice water. I know we could just stop and get a free cup of ice water but that takes time. And DD is never convenient about it. LOL so it's just more...

DO YOU COOK IN YOUR ROOM??

My plan is to premake breakfast bowls/burritos/pancakes and just reheat in the food court. I also plan to pack a few lunches into the parks because we don't care for the options at 2 of them. If you search you can see what other people are taking. It's mostly cold foods you don't really need to...

    Road Trip car picnic ideas

We do picnic lunches when we travel. We also do day trips and small hikes here at home and we pack lunches for that. So I have a huge list of things we like to take. I'll edit out the stuff already mentioned for the most part. crackers, cheese, pepperoni/lunch meat fruit (grapes, berries...

Do you like being called "The Wife?"

I don't find it offensive and I'm pretty sure I have heard DH use that term. Usually it's because it involves me in some way and he knows better than to volunteer my time for me.

How much do you budget for food for a family of 4?

I'm guessing that they're looking at around $40-50 per counter service meal. We are me, DH, and DD6. Our CS meals cost between $35-45 for the three of us. Some were cheaper. DD always got a kids meal. I sometimes got a kids meal but usually ordered an adult meal. If they're 11 year old is still...

Lunch and snack ideas for picky kid?

We picnic a lot and DD is a very picky eater. The "she won't eat anything wet" could be a texture issue or an "it isn't cool to do" issue. What I'd do is make a list of food you know she likes and let her circle what she is willing to eat at school. For my DD that would be fruit, yogurt, celery...

    Bringing Food to the Parks

We do a lot of picnicking so I have a fairly decent go to list so we can change things up. As for water everyone wears a Camelback. Even DD will get one now and she's 6. She'll be expected to carry her own. We fill them with ice and then filtered water. We found that one was just not enough for...

    Disney on the WAAAAY cheap

I know but I am super picky about my water. Plus, no waiting in lines. We could refill at any time. It works for us. Plus it has everyone sharing a bit of the load instead of just me.

    Disney on the WAAAAY cheap

We (we as in DH LOL) wore a Camelback pack filled with ice and water. Saved a small fortune in water. I'd bring breakfast foods with you and possibly lunch too if needed.

What's at the top of your child's Xmas list?

We took DD6 to see Santa this past weekend. She asked for Hazel's broom from Little Charmers and a Little Charmers playset. Since they are $13 a piece she will be receiving both. Normally Santa only brings one gift. She is getting a couple of board games, a Little Passports subscription...

I must be completely out of touch, childs birthday party invite...

I don't have an issue with registries. I find that they help when choosing a gift for someone. I keep an ongoing Amazon wish list for DD. She just turned 6 on Monday and both of our families live over 1000 miles away. It's easier if they can just pick something that she has expressed an interest...

    Crazy Mother in Laws

Honestly, it's okay to not have the warm fuzzies for her. My MIL doesn't have them for me either. But I can give her credit, she has learned. It took DH cutting her off for 6 months completely and her not seeing us for 4 years and upon that first visit the first nasty thing she had to say DH...

    Cheap Wine

If you can get it, Bullyhill makes good wine. The Love My Goat is a good middle of the road red wine that isn't too dry. And the Goat White was really good too.
