"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

Not counting weather concerns, plan to avoid any metro area during rush hour. I've done 13 straight-thru drives (see P. 1 for the all-time records) and you WILL be exhausted upon arrival. That first day in the park might not be that enjoyable because of your marathon drive. You can break up your...

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

It was indeed a special day as we enjoyed each other's company as Florida homeowners. Hard to believe, it was just a few years ago that we had experienced over 100 combined round trip drives [see page 1, post 1] that many times included an overnight stay on I-95. Now it takes us 60 minutes from...

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

It's official: dvczerfs is a home owner in Florida! The all-time long-distance driver and his family (72 drives; see page 1) join yours truly (46 drives; see page 1) as "inactive" participants on this thread. Anyone else going to join us in the not-too-distant future? All the best! :thumbsup2

Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

We mentioned that in our post yesterday: one third-floor concierge desk at the RPC. The "Walking Concierge" was sometimes on the fourth floor and once on the fifth; other times he/she was nowhere to be seen. And on a few occasions, the iPads/tablets were not working. However, they were always...

Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

When the piano is not being played (I'm not sure about Wes' identity), the GFR has the feel and "charm" of a commercial warehouse. The absence of the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra is obvious. Afternoon tea servive may return, but according to one of the managers it was "never that popular."...

Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Back from the GFR's RPC reopening: Repeat guests will notice many new CMs, since several of the excellent veteran CMs have retired, like Lauretta, Gayle, and Janice, among others; some familiar CMs are now at other resorts (Abdul, for example). Only one concierge desk on the 3rd floor. To...

Disney's Club Level (CL) Information & Questions

Heading back to the GR/RPC tomorrow (#54). Haven't been there since March 2020. Recent trips to the GFR for dining allowed us to chat with some CMs who told us that several exceptional RPC CMs had retired. All the best! :thumbsup2

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

Looks like dvczerfs, the all-time champ on this site (see page 1, post 1), is weeks away from being a full-time central FL homeowner! His family's drive to WDW will certainly be shorter. All the best! :thumbsup2

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

This is noteworthy, since dvczerfs is the all-time record holder on this site (see page 1, post 1). Coincidentally, he and his family joins the founder of this site (yours truly), who moved to Florida four years ago. All the best! :thumbsup2

Indeed, Emporia is a good stop. We used the Holiday Inn Express there for many years. On the road home by 9 am and we'd be back at the Jersey Shore by 4 pm.

"For 2,000+ Mile Round-Trip Drivers Only!" (Part V)

All-time driver-rider DVCzerfs is about to be a full time Floridian. No more 2,000+ mile round trip drives. All the best! :thumbsup2
