Newbie to DVC - Question
 

Hi. We are starting seriously consider buying into DVC. We have been looking at the resale market and I have a question...

Let's say we buy a contract that has 50 points available for us to use right away. We want to make a reservation, but need 57 points. Assuming we can't or do not want to borrow from next year...

What are our options for getting the additional 7 points and/or being able to make the reservation?

Is the answer different if we need a lot more points than just 7?

If you don't want to borrow and need 7, your options are (a) find another member who will transfer the points to you (see e.g., the Rent/trade board) or (b) wait to make your reservation at 7 months out and purchase for $15 a point from Disney up to 24 one-time per use year points for the trip. If more than 24 points or you want to make the ressie 11 months out the option is (a).
