The Shoot Out That Was Almost Shot Down PTR/TR update 5/3/11

Welcome to my First PTR?TR. I hope you will all enjoy this as much as I love coming to Las Vegas. This is not our first trip to Vegas but it will be to post this PTR.

Some of you may be wondering about the title. To give you a little backround it is me and my DH we are both in our 40's. He is an avid golfer and hope to have him to pro golfer in the near future. I am just his wife who supports him for doing this.

Welll this trip came about from the previous golf tournament his brother was holding in Arizona. Last year the contract was up so my husband asked if he thought about doing it in Las Vegas. Well he thought about it and said yes. So mind you know this is a a trip that was planned for a year and we were saving for this. There are around 10 to 12 teams that attend this tournament. Well needless to say everyone was thrilled to hear the news it would be in Vegas.

I sent the DBIL the money in January. On the first of Feburary DBIL sent a email stating he sent the money back and the tournament was canceled. MY first thought was is this an april fools joke. I literally looked at the calendar. DBIL is a jokester. But no it was no joke. I called my DH and asked if he spoke to his brother and he said no. I told him what happend and he was speechless to say the least. His dad called and asked if we knew what happend. We of course said no. And to boot DBIL never gave a reason.:sad1:

I got to thinking about all this and asked my DH if he thought about doing this for him so no one elses trip would be ruined. He did say yes and so that leads us to where we are right now.

This is where my headache begins now DSIL is involved and she is wanting to set up a whole different email account for this to communicate with the Hotel and the Golf coourse. And we thought the contract would have to be changed. It took a course of a month for her to set up this email. Now I have a ton of email of how to book a room for people who need one. Next round if we do this no pre book for anyone cause everyone got basically comped rooms here. So needless to say only a handful of us need a room. Not worth the contract.

I forgot to mention second reason for this email account ( its linked to him ) he still wants to know what is going on. I thought what for you canceled and gave no reason and you want to know what is going on. I dont mind telling him how everything is and send pics. I dont know maybe I am wrong for thinking like that. Well my DH likes to know about a course before he plays and he needs to know about other things for the players that are playing. I wont bore you with all that. It gets to complicated and quite frankly if you dont play it may be really boring.

So we set a date to come here and take care of the issues. We will be staying at the Planet Hollywood for the tournament. So we needed to find a place in the hotel to have a meeting. We found a place just hope its not so overly crowded for this in the lobby. We also needed to get Trophies made.

Well Sat the 12th we set out for Vegas at 2 am. We made good time and rolled at 10 am. Our first stop was at the trophie shop. When I get them I will post pics. Please be patient as I am still learning how to post certain things.

I had been up for over 24 hrs by the time we got here. We did not get out and do to much as trying to do things for this tournament. But after a semi good nites sleep I am up in the coffee shop at the Strastophere and getting ready to head out and enjoy my day. I may not have much to offer this round but the good news- We will be coming back in 3 weeks. Yippee!!

So I hope you will join me on this journey. I may surprise myself. I always have things go differently than I expect. Its a good thing I did not find this site along time ago as I would have had plenty to tell. I will keep updating as soon as I get more info to post.

I'm here....found you!

Oh Boy! This sounds like a saga worth a couple of coffees and all of that bacon roll.

 I've organised a couple of corporate events for the company I used to work for; so I'm already on tenterhooks for you. Hope it all worked out.

I think this is just the beginning. Her original trip was planned for June or July. Seems like these added trips are to plan said event.

No this trip was started out as fun, until it was almost canceled. In fact we were asked if we were going to continue doing it. My DH said yes. Yes everyone is happy at least no one had to stop there vacation. I am glad your son enjoys it. I have tried but my back wont let me enjoy it. What is your sons handicap? Thanks for following along.

Well after a good nights sleep I feel half way human. My husband was gone by 5:30 to play his round of golf. My first thought was okay I need my coffee. So by the time I got around to taking my shower and finish picking up the room. Dont want house keeping thinking I am a slob. I chose the Roxy Diner to go sit, have my coffee and start my PTR.

I think now that was a mistake. At 7 in the morning they are blasting 50's music in there. Not sure which worked more to wake me up the coffee or the music. I think I was in there about an hour or a little more. I got charged over 3 dollars for a cup of coffee :scared1:. But I still left a tip thinking I took up the waitress table time for someone else. So it cost me 4 for a cup of coffee. It wasnt even starbucks. I packed up my stuff and took it back to the hotel room. Now it is time to decide where to go next.

DH had the car which is ok I like riding the duece around. It cost me 7 dollars for a 24 hour pass. I went out to the bus stop and purchased my ticket and waited about 10 mins for the bus. I made my first stop at The Venetian. I like it alot. I guess it is because we won alot of money from it in 04. Took the money and ran. I arrived and it was very quiet, no shops open yet. So I went searching to see if I could find something for breakfast. Sadly enough I found no breakfast. Not because there wasnt anything open I just did not want to eat alot of breaded items nor eat rolls. I need to keep up with losing weight.

I have a tendency for alot of back issues. My back goes out alot. Thats what it is today. I need to be ready for the next round in two weeks. I am not looking forward to the drive. But have you checked out air fair? :scared1:. I dont like flying but I dont like paying that much money for and hour and twenty min flight. The cheapest I could find was anywhere from 400- 600 for round trip. No thanks I will keep my money for vegas.

I had my heart set on finding a peticular place called Helix I think. I remember seeing someones beautiful wine cabinet and I wanted to get her a pic of this place. I did not locate it. When I go back I am determined to find it.

I walked through the Pallazo and I took a Picture of a Waterfall with butterflies. I also thought my back is hurting so I went in and played a couple of machines ( penny machines) I put in one dollar and made a 9 dollar payback. Paid for my bus fair. Thank you Palazzo.

Well I looked at the time it was after 10 so I started over to The Wynn. I love it in there. Then I kept walking over to the Encore and I went into the Hermes store. I dont know how much you may know about it but it is very upscale ( no I did not purchase anything ) but they all things are hand stitched including saddles. I looked at this barrel bag ( I like odd things ) and noticed the stitching on it. I had the sales lady look at it. She said I never noticed it and we had a good laugh because it should have never passed QC. It was a 5800 dollar bag. The stitching looked like someone had to much to drink by the end of the bag.

I left there and sat down and played a few more machines only pennys. I usually do okay on penny machines. By this time it was after 12 and DH said he would be done about 12:40 so I got on the bus and went to Saharas. Sad news Saharas will be closing on May 16 including the Nascar Cafe. DH met me there and we decided it was time to eat. Where do we go? Yes dont worry I have food porn to share. I will do this in the next post. Hope you are all with me so far.

UP NEXT PICS

usnuzuloose 03-16-2011 11:57 AM

Darn computer froze while I was in photo bucket. I almost forgot to tell the good news. My DH talked to the guy at the golf course and he dropped the price of the golf a little more. That is such a blessing as it will cover the cost of the trophies that we footed the bill for. It cost over a hundred bucks for two trophies. And they are not anything fancy. Speaking of which I need to contact the trophie place and get them to send me my sample to give it my approval. But the other thing is we are able to buy the players a yardage book and they can get 20 percent off in the golf shop. That is a great perk. Hopefully if this is an on going tournament maybe there will be better perks in the future. People were still asking us if we knew an answer from DBIL. We have to keep saying nope and apologize. I dont know if people would be willing to come back if they have it in there mind this could happen again. I guess we will have to address this when we have our meeting with everyone.

Okay what you are waiting for ( FOOD PORN ) as long I dont get frozen again. On to where we eat He was hungry and so was I after not finding any breakfast. I suggested Spice Market Buffet at Planet Hollywood. It is where we will be staying in june. May as well try it as family may want to eat there. What a great excuse. Now I did not get pics of the buffet as when we arrived it was there shift change and they were changing out the buffet. We got breakfast and lunch. They do have all kinds of foods. I dont believe they changed it after Planet Hollywood took it over. It used to be called the Alladin. The food is really good. I had french toast, BACON, lamb in tomato, hummus and pita bread, eggs benedict, potato and leek soup. I am not sure what my husband had. It is a little pricey it cost us 54 dollars. So I am sure dinner is a little more than that. I wont complain to much as we dont spend that kind of money on eating out very often. ( Okay I will be honest we dont spend that kind of money for dinner at all ) But the food is very good. I did not eat dessert as I am trying to stay away from sugar. But they were changing that out as well so no pics for dessert.

What a fun read! I started reading about how you paid $4 for a cup of coffee and it wasn't even Starbucks and I sat here laughing.

Guess what?

That's how much I pay for coffee ($3 -$4) in Oz.....and I'm GLAD it isn't Starbucks!

I haven't been to Vegas in YEARS and your description of walking through the casinos transported me back instantly. Thanks for that.
Sounds like you managed to sort out a few things for the golf tournament as well.

Breakfast looks yummy...but I'm not sure I would have had the leek soup for breakfast.

Waiting for more....popcorn::
