Me:
Your Result: The Inland North You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop." I don't. I call it soda. :snooty: |
The South. I have taken this before. Although, it has been moderated by my brief stint in New England, years of voice lessons and studies of foreign languages.

I have a mid-western southern accent - laugh!!! I was born in St. Louis but spent 6 years during my tween/teen years in Birmingham, AL - I returned to St. Louis at 16 and then spent 3 years in undergrad in Alabama. After my third year in college I returned (and finished up undergrad) to St. Louis. So saying things like, hearr - emphasis are the 'earr' sound and "what he said" all in the same sentence. According to the test I have a southern accent.

Midland. I was born in NJ, raised in NEPA so it's somewhat correct.

"Inland North" which is right on, but I also call it soda, not pop. I have lived in the south suburbs of Chicago my whole life, except my 2nd year of college I was in Missouri, right across the river from Quincy, Illinois..

Midland...I was born and raised in the Midwest.
"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. |
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak. Chances are they are correct. |
What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West
Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta. Result Breakdown: 96% The West 90% The Midland 50% Boston 46% North Central 38% The South 4% The Inland North 0% Philadelphia 0% The Northeast Quiz URL: http://www.gotoquiz.com/what_america...nt_do_you_have |
