A Bad thing happened to me at Universal!
 
I have been posting a trip report and wrote this there as well, but since a lot of people don't read the trip reports, I thought I'd put it here as well.

All week, I had trouble with my fingerprints, sometimes it would take maybe three tries the other couple times it would take 8 or 10 tries, but the people at the ticket booths were always very nice about it, until Wednesday morning!!! I got in a line with a lady probably in her 50's (I wish I had gotten her name and reported her afterwards!), as usual I had problems with my fingerprint. She then started giving me the third degree---why hadn't I written my name on the back of my ticket, I told her I didn't know I had to. She then asked 'didn't any of the people at the ticket booths ask you to sign your name, I told her no. She asked how many days I've been to the parks, I answered Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday and I told her they were having some problems with my finger prints before, so again she said in a very hateful voice 'And none of them asked you to sign the ticket?' I said 'no' and believe me I was being very nice to her. She then said 'well this ticket is non-transferable and how do I know that someone else didn't use this ticket and then give it to you?' I just answered, 'I don't know' again very nicely. She then said 'well, I don't even have to let you in---you know that don't you?' I just said 'yes Maman' she then went on to to ask me who I was with, I pointed to my group of five already in (they had went to other ticket booths to get in), all this time she kept trying to get my fingerprint, and I seriously felt like a criminal! After being there for probably around 3 or 4 minutes she finally let me in.

I had my room key with my name printed on it with me, I wish later I would have said, 'well see my name?' I could go back to my room at RPR and get the copy of the bill where I bought the tickets and I could bring back my drivers license so you could see it's really me'. She acted like she was the Universal Police! After probably spending over $2,000 in Universal, from the price of the hotel, tickets, food, and souvenirs, I felt like I shouldn't be treated that way at a ticket booth!


Now let me add, that was probably the only bad experience I had and it in no way made me not want to go back at some point, but on the other hand. No one should be made to feel like a criminal at a ticket booth. :rolleyes:

Maybe you should still contact guest services. I'm sure they could pinpoint the employee. Such a shame.

My wife always has a problem with her fingerprint and we are ap holders. I forgot to add is the best thing to do is look for an employee at the gates with a hand held scanner, it requires no finger print and it faster.

OMG...it MUST be the HEAT. I just spent 1 hour fussing with a nurse that was refusing my sister two blanket for her bed (I'm a nurse myself). She went on telling me how much the hospital has to pay for laundry and blah blah. I REPORTED HER. She was very pleasant then on. I wish you had her name...Since you wans't able to get her name, let's blame her RUDNESS on the heat. Have a wonderful VACATION. OBTW I'M GOING TO READ YOUR REPORTS.

We've had finger scanning trouble but never encountered any attitude. What a bad way to start your day. They know that those scanners are sketchy at the best of times. Perhaps it was someone new. No excuse and hopefully someone reports her.

I deffinatly would report this to guest service.You spend hard earned money and get treated like that!!Makes me mad just hearing about it..

I have been reading your report jewell:thumbsup2 and very good it is to.
My DW always has problems with the machine taking finger prints, but has never encountered what happened to you, do not think she would be as nice as you if they where as rude to her. A few times last year after what seemed about 10 mins ,and people behind getting frustrated they just let her in.
I agree with Bluer101, if there is someone with a scanner get in that line, thats what we eventually did, although there is not always someone on with a scanner

for the last 2 years, i have had trouble with my fingerprint also.
knowing that has been an issue, i always have an id with me.

also an ap holder and i do look for the tm with the scanner.

Someone has to be a real jerk for me to think Customer service should be informed. She certainly qualifies.:headache: You'd be doing Universal a favour by sending them a short letter about the incident.

ps: those scanners are the spawn of satan.

Thanks for your support guys! Also, thanks for the phone number, but I think I'd rather write a letter or send an email. Would anyone know the address or email address? If not, I'll call, because you all are right, I hope this woman doesn't do this to another person, but by the way she acted, I just have a feeling she would. I have been stewing over this for awhile now, and it still makes me mad. I just wish I had her name.

I seriously didn't know you were supposed to sign your ticket, it was the seven day ticket that I purchased for $99 and I picked it up at the ticket electronic kiosk. Did you guys know you were supposed to sign it? I'll admit I didn't read the fine print on the back though.

Also, I didn't see anyone with a handheld scanner, of course I really didn't know to look for one either. Next time I'll know better!

In our experience, they get you to sign it at the kiosk upon first usage.

The scanners are a major sore point for me too. I have the old AP with my picture on it and sometimes my print won't work. So...they stand there and try to scan it 10 times before looking at the picture only to realize we are the same person. :rolleyes:

I don't know which company they bought the scanning system from but I bet the salesman is laughing.

i knew you had to sign the back of the pass.

it is stated on the pass.



i used to buy the passes back in 92 and up until i did the ap.
all the tickets needed a signature on them.
i guess most of us never mentioned it as no one has asked about it so far.

when someone is new to the parks, maybe they weren't aware of that.
i figured those that do disney with tickets are used to signing the ticket backs.
i'm looking at my disney ticket hoppers now and on the back of it, it states the owner of the pass must sign it.


each time i do the finger scan, the tm tells me to use my right index finger.
i always tell them i use my left index finger.
they tell me that is not possible.

after a few attempts with the right finger, they tell me to use the left finger.
and then it works.....:laughing:

i just live with it.
they are doing what they are told to do from their training and have the guest use their right index finger instead of the left.

i'm just a rebel with the left finger.......:teeth:
