Family of 6, 24 hours in the car, and the race to beat the blizzard - 12/18/16 trip

I am all caught up, the resort day looked fun and laid back, we love AKL as well. I know being from Minnesota that swimming when it is 63 out is no biggie lol. My DD and I have had dinner at CRT and really enjoyed it. Nice to have your parents join you for the day at MK.

Both my husband and I left thinking man, we really need to save up enough money to stay at AKL! Such a cool experience! My husband has said it was actually his favorite memory of Disney.
AKL is fantastic! It is on my bucket list for one day!

My silly 7YO came back with 3 cupcakes, and I asked him why he chose that dessert and he said he got 3 so that it made Mickey ears.
Too funny. I just bought a hidden mickey book for my girls for the next time we go to Disney!

We packed up some lunches because some of our group planned to have a picnic on Tom Sawyer island for lunch the next day.
This is a great idea! I wish they sold Fried Chicken Picnic Lunches for you to take to the island and eat. I think that would be great! Or even packed up lunches to take from one of the restaurants near by..

So my 4YO was basically silent the entire ride. Then when it ended, I asked him how it was and he said "I was a little bit scared. I not want to do that again". Lol. It was too cute.
Ha! My youngest is going to be big enough to go on Space Mountain this time. I have a feeling she may be the same!

My 7YO got measured and was told he was tall enough to drive a car all by himself so he was SOOO excited.
Man, my 8 year old is NO where close enough to drive by herself! She was hoping she would be for our next trip. Not happening. But apparently your kids got your DH's height. Mine are stuck with my short self.

Husband and 7YO on the top Dumbo, my dad and 4YO and bottom Dumbo
I love these kinds of photos!

At the end when the hitchhiking ghost gets in your car, our ghost was holding a sign that said "Minnesota Here I come!" :scared1: Ummm what? At first I thought maybe it was a coincidence, but I glanced back at the car my mom was in and it actually had her first name on the sign! So I'm assuming they use our magic bands somehow to get that info. (Does anyone know?) I know the last time I was on the ride 3 years ago, before magic bands, they definitely didn't have anything like that.
That is pretty cool! It must be from the Magic bands. Similar to the It's a Small World ride, maybe?

Hello all!! This is my first DTR (not my first Disney trip though!) and I loved reading the DTRs before my own trip so I thought I would give it a try!

First to tell you a bit about me and my family!

I'm Vicky and I LOVE Disney. My family took trips every couple of years when I was growing up and I've had many magical Disney moments. I'm 34 now and this was my 3rd trip with my own family (our last trip was 3 years ago, and the trip before that was about almost 6 years ago).

My husband is 39 and he basically tolerates Disney. He knows I love it and agrees to go, but has yet to really enjoy it the way that I do. His first trip was with me about 10 years ago. He is 7 feet tall and there are some rides he can't go on because of his height, not to mention he doesn't like crowds because people always ask him how tall he is (it's really annoying actually).

I have 4 kiddos. My oldest son is 7.5. He likes Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and hates princesses. My only daughter is going to be 6 next month (I'll just refer to her as 6 to make it easier!) and she LOVES princesses and pretty much anything Disney. My next son is turning 4 tomorrow and he adores Mickey Mouse (in fact he's having a Mickey Mouse birthday party with his brother tomorrow). I was worried about him with Disney World because he has ZERO patience (I mean it's ridiculous) and I didn't know how he would handle waiting in the lines. Then my youngest son turns 2 on January 1st. He is a busy boy!

Our trip was scheduled to start on Friday December 16th after school and work ended. We would start our long drive from snowy Minnesota and be there Saturday night! Instead, we heard rumors on Wednesday that a huge blizzard was coming. By Thursday, it looked like it was definitely coming. We were in a storm warning from Friday at noon through Saturday at 6 pm! We were really nervous about waiting until Friday evening to leave, especially since the storm system was going to hit all the way down through Illinois. It would have been either an impossible drive, or a really long one. So we made the decision to pull the kids out of school and leave Friday early morning!

Here are the kids at 6 am on Friday morning, all excited for the trip!

It took my 4YO about 45 minutes before he started asking if we were there yet. He then proceeded to ask every 10 minutes from that point on if we were there yet or not. It was wonderful. :earboy2:

I have to say though, despite that, my kids were rock stars in the car. They got out at gas stations for bathroom breaks and got back into the car with zero complaining. We drove straight through the night so my husband and I took turns sleeping. We didn't want to eat out at all, so we had a cooler full of food and a basket full of snacks. We also wrapped DVDs and gave each kid a turn opening a present throughout the drive to make it more fun for them. This back fired a little, as my 4YO kept wanting it to be his turn! Oh well.

We constantly checked the weather and were literally staying JUST head of the snow storm the entire time. It was the right choice to leave early!

We made AMAZING time and arrived in Orlando at 7 am Saturday morning! It was 24 hours of travel, plus the time change.

All along the way when my 4YO asked if we were there yet, I would say "Do you see any palm trees yet? We're not there until you see palm trees!" So when we parked the car and saw palm trees in the parking lot, we decided to take a picture in front of one. :)

Unfortunately, arriving earlier than planned did have some downfalls. I'll be back later to write about our first couple days in Orlando! Thanks for reading along so far!
Happy 2017 everyone! I am really enjoying reliving our Disney experience through this DTR. :)

When I left off, we were on our way to CBR and had just gotten our exciting text that our room was ready!

This was our first time staying at CBR (or any moderate resort) so I had no idea what to expect. As I mentioned before, we were going to stay in Jamaica 45. I was thrilled at how pretty the buildings at Jamaica were!
View attachment 212763
Looks like a tropical paradise, right?? :)

As I was loading in bags from the car, I caught a glimpse of these two rascals watching me from our room, lol.
View attachment 212764

Here are my kids, who were basically jumping out of their skins with excitement to finally be in our room!!
View attachment 212766

Their favorite part was the murphy bed. There were already some heated discussions about how they kids were going to take turns on the bed during our stay.
View attachment 212767
Look at lounging Mickey in the back of the bed! I love the small touches like that in Disney resorts.

By the time we had loaded our suitcases into the hotel room and got somewhat organized, the kids were already wearing swim suits and begging us to go to the pool. We headed across the bridge and admired the resort more.
View attachment 212769

I have to say, I was SO EXCITED for the pool at our resort! Probably more excited than the kids. CBR has the pirate themed swimming area for younger kids and the Spanish fortress themed pool. The pictures made it look so AWESOME!

It did not disappoint.
View attachment 212770
It was zero entry so it was perfect for my toddler, but with all the water slides and "hidden passageways" to get to the slides, it was perfect for older kids too. I barely saw my 7 year old, and every time I saw him he was grinning ear to ear.

We decided to check out the pirate play area for younger kids. My daughter really wanted to go with us. It's supposed to be for kids under 48" and I know she is over that. :/ As I mentioned earlier, my husband is 7 feet tall and my daughter towers over almost all kids her age. She is 5 but looks like an 8 year old. I told her she might not be able to stay because she is too tall. At one point, the cast member who was monitoring this pool area called her over to get measured. My poor daughter. :( She wanted to stay soooo bad! She was slinking down to try to appear shorter, but it was obvious she was too tall. But we got lucky, and the cast member was so nice. She had been talking to my husband about how tall he is, and so she understood that my daughter is very tall for her age and she agreed to let her stay. My daughter's face just lit up! Talk about Disney magic. :)

Here she is, taking my 2 year old by the hand up into the pirate ship.
View attachment 212773
This lasted all of 30 seconds until he got to the top and walked under the water streams. He started crying and came back down to Mom!

But he started having fun after that. :)
View attachment 212774

It really was a unique and fun water play area. The kids had a blast and it was nice that it was gated in so I didn't have to worry about kids wandering off. That made it much more relaxed for me as the parent.

After playing at the pirate ship area for a while, we headed back to the big pool. My 7YO was still having a blast. He was super brave with all the water slides! We stayed all afternoon. I don't think the smiles left my kids' faces the entire time! The weather was beautiful.

Before it was time to go, we hit the hot tub. There were actually 2, and one of them was really busy but the other one was a little more hidden away (I had found it by accident while exploring with my 4YO earlier) and totally empty!
View attachment 212785

The sun was starting to set at this point, so it was nice to sit in the hot bubbly water. :)

After we were done swimming, we decided to head over to Old Port Royale to pick up our Disney mugs and fill them up!

The kids were sitting by the fountain outside of Old Port Royale and I took one of my favorite pictures of them.
View attachment 212789

On our way back to our room, the kids talked us into letting them play at the playground and how could I say no to those faces?! My husband had to go pick up our stroller though that was being delivered to the main building, so he left to get it and I stayed with the kiddos. Unfortunately, we couldn't play long because the sun went down and a cast member stopped by to tell us she was closing the park. The kids weren't upset though, and we headed for home!

Back at our room, we got the kids ready for bed and everyone snuggled in bed in their jammies while watching Mickey Mouse episodes on one of the Disney channels in the hotel room. They had these weird Mickey episodes I've never seen before (my son kept saying they were "classic Mickey" but they definitely weren't) but all the kids loved them.

My husband returned with the most massive stroller I've ever seen, lol. It was a Bob double stroller, which I chose because it was the tallest and I thought it'd be easiest for my husband to push. But holy cow, it was huuuuuge!

So that was basically the end to our day! I have to say, it was a wonderful day. It was relaxed and everyone was happy, the weather was perfect, and WE WERE FINALLY AT DISNEY WORLD!!!

Join me tomorrow when we spend a day at EPCOT! :D :D :D
I am loving your trip report! We are from minnesota as well and although we have never driven to DW we are big CBR fans! Next month we are trying out POR, and I will admit we are all a tad nervous that it won't live up to CBR.

Great updates! Sorry that CM yelled at you when you were also dealing with DS. I've had those moments when the kids were little too. Not fun! Looks like you came out of it and continued on with a fun day! Looking forward to the princess lunch! princess:

We had some difficult moments at times on our trip, but they didn't usually last long! My children are highly emotional but they recover quickly. ;)

Really enjoying your trip report. Thanks for sharing it with us

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Thanks for reading!

I am all caught up, the resort day looked fun and laid back, we love AKL as well. I know being from Minnesota that swimming when it is 63 out is no biggie lol. My DD and I have had dinner at CRT and really enjoyed it. Nice to have your parents join you for the day at MK.

Lol it's so true, 63 is not a problem for us hearty Minnesotans. Plus the pool was heated, so I'm sure it felt way better than a Minnesota lake!

AKL is fantastic! It is on my bucket list for one day!

Too funny. I just bought a hidden mickey book for my girls for the next time we go to Disney!

I love the Fried Chicken picnic lunch idea! Yum! We just packed up some peanut butter sandwiches and fruit, nothing exciting but for some reason all food tastes better when it's a picnic!

Yeah, my 7yo is really tall. I'm 5'2" and he's almost as tall as me. He's probably 4'11" or something like that. Clearly does not take after his mother!

Yay for another Minnesotan! Good luck at POR! I've heard good things about that resort too.

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend. I worked on my Disney scrapbook this afternoon. I have about 300 pictures so I have a feeling it may take me a while!!! Anyone else enjoy scrapbooking??!

Magic Kingdom day 2: Part IV

It's CRT time!!!

Like I said earlier, I just lucked into a reservation but only got a reservation for 2. My daughter was really excited to have a special mom and daughter lunch in the castle! I've been to Disney lots of times, but I've never gotten to go to CRT so I was pretty much as excited as a kid, lol.

As we waited in line to check in, my daughter was bouncing off the walls with excitement just chattering away. We got in pretty much right away and we waited in line to meet Cinderella!

My daughter's favorite princess is Aurora so we were Disney Bounding that day. :) My mom sewed our outfits. Mine is basically just a $2 tank top from target that my mom sewed on some extra fabric from my daughter's dress. My daughter's dress is a knit stretchy fabric so it was super comfortable for her!
PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_7900465155web.jpg

We were called up right away for our table. I took a picture of the cool Cinderella stain glass on the stair case.
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2274.jpg

Our table was amazing!! Back in the corner right by the windows, so we had a view of the carousel!
IMG_5551web.jpg

IMG_5552web.jpg

I also snapped some pictures of the interior just because it was so pretty.
IMG_5553web.jpg

IMG_5554web.jpg

Our server came around to take our drink orders. I love that they really do treat you like royalty here! They came back to our table with our drinks and also brought my daughter a magic wand and a wishing star. She was beyond thrilled with both of them, she couldn't stop grinning!

IMG_5558web.jpg

They brought around the cheese and fruit appetizer for my daughter, and the tasting plate appetizer for me. It was really tasty! My daughter ordered the chicken leg for her meal, and I ordered the pan-seared chicken over goat cheese polenta.

The server brought us our food relatively quickly, and around that time the princesses started coming! It was fun because they told a brief story about the princess they were about to introduce and then they started back in our back corner so we didn't have to wait long!

The first princess to come out was Snow White! She was probably the least talkative out of all the princesses.
IMG_5559web.jpg

I tried to convince my daughter to eat her food between princesses but she was so distracted!

The next princess to come was Aurora!! Yay!!! I was somewhat worried that Aurora might not be there, because some people have mentioned she wasn't there during their meal and she is my daughter's favorite. Aurora was so excited to see my daughter's dress! She asked my daughter if her dress could twirl, and my daughter said yes so Aurora said "Let's twirl together!" So they went into an open space and they both twirled around together in their dresses.:love::love: One of my favorite memories!
IMG_5562web.jpg

Ariel came out next. I don't remember as much from this interaction! I think I had been attempting to eat my lunch around this time, lol. My daughter's face is priceless though!
IMG_5563web.jpg

Continued on next post...

The last princess to come out was Jasmine! We hadn't met Jasmine yet so Vivian was excited. I loved Jasmine, she was my favorite princess of the day. She seemed so casual and happy. When she signed our photo mat, she asked my daughter how old she was. My daughter told her, and then Jasmine said she was going to draw a sparkle for each year old that my daughter was so that when she looked back on the signature she would always remember how old she was at this time. So cool!
IMG_5566web.jpg

The princess parade was done so I tried to convince my pokey daughter to eat some food! She was content just looking around admiring everything and watching princesses. Then it was time to order dessert. My daughter got the s'more dessert, and I got some sort of chocolate mousse that was amazing. I took a picture of it because it came with a really fun chocolate clock. You can see my daughter's s'more dessert in the background.
IMG_5567web.jpg

My daughter ended up eating the chocolate clock. :) She loved it!

So that basically ended our lunch! It was a really laid-back, peaceful meal. By far easiest of all our character meals, of course I had way fewer kids, but I do feel like they didn't rush us at all and the way the princesses filed in one by one felt very organized. My daughter was so happy and I felt the Disney magic in high doses!

It was close to 1 pm by the time we left to go meet up with the rest of our crew!

CRT looks like it was so much fun for you and Vivian! Your mom did a great job on your outfits, and how perfect that you guys got to see Aurora wearing them!! Keep the updates coming!

Loving your TR! Nice you were able to have a mom/daughter lunch and didn't have to deal with those pesky boys :-) I'm sure it made your daughter feel so special. What a great meet with Aurora - so fun!

We've done CRT twice as a family but last trip I did it with just DD. It was truly magical and a completely different vibe. Loving your report!

I love that you both dressed as Aurora! Your mom did a great job! So cute! :goodvibes

I remember the first time we did CRT lunch, my daughters were 5 and 3 and dressed as Cinderella and Snow White. They were so excited and the interaction was great. My son was like 1.5 and the princesses would call him a prince and give him a kiss. The pictures are priceless. I miss those days! lol :)

Anyway, glad you could enjoy such a magical experience with your DD! She will always remember it! I like how Jasmine drew 1 sparkle for each year of age...great idea! :thumbsup2

Aw, I'm really enjoying this trip report. Your family is adorable!

Thank you!

Lol yep those pesky boys is right! I hope she felt special!

Maybe that's why it felt so magical! Just a special trip for the two of us. :) Thanks for reading!

I'm sure my 4YO son would have love the princess lunch too! He loves princesses, he would have loved the attention and being called a prince!! I will definitely miss these days when my kids get older!!

Just a quick update for tonight!!

Magic Kingdom day 2: Part V

After my daughter and I left CRT, I sent a message to my husband to find out where the rest of our crew was. We were supposed to meet at the Carousel so we started heading that direction. I took this picture with my phone just because I liked the angle of the castle here.
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2277.jpg

My daughter literally danced and spun as we walked, lol. I had to prompt her - "Disney speed, Vivian!!" She was a very happy girl.

When we all met up at the Carousel, it was time for another fast pass. I had a FP for myself and my 3 big kids for 7 Dwarves Mine Train. The baby couldn't ride, and my parents weren't able to get a FP for the ride since they booked more last minute, so my husband, the baby and my parents had fast passes for Winnie the Pooh.

A few minutes into our wait, my 4YO decided he did NOT want to ride. Ugh. You may have noticed this has been a theme today. I have a theory that Space Mountain really freaked him out, because he didn't want to go on any rides after that except for the slow rides like It's a Small World. He told me he wanted to go on Winnie the Pooh instead. At this point, we were literally about to board and I really wasn't sure what to do but basically tried to empathize with him but explained that the ride was not as scary as Space Mountain and the dwarves were on it. I talked him into it, although he didn't seem thrilled.

This was my first time on 7DMT. It's a super cute ride! I'm loving our ride photo (it's currently my FB profile picture, lol).
PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_7900584303web.jpg

You can see my 4yo is channeling Grumpy, lol.

After the ride, we met up with my parents and husband. They had all enjoyed Pooh!

Since we were close, we decided to go on Mickey's Philharmonic again because it was the kids' favorite the other day. When we got into the theater, we picked an aisle and 2 young women plopped themselves right down in the middle of the row so we couldn't get around them. The CM saw them and was making clear announcements to move all the way down the row. They didn't look up from their phones. My dad, who tends to have a temper, was obviously getting annoyed so I tried to politely ask them to move all the way down the row so we could get by. They stared at their phones and totally ignored us. Finally I told my dad we should just climb over them then because it was getting ridiculous. So that's what we did. I wasn't mad, but I really sometimes wonder about people. They were clearly just trying to ignore us, soooo not Disney spirit!

After Mickey's show, we stopped off at a quick service place to get some ice water and then decided to head over to Tomorrow land. We still wanted to go to the Monster's Inc show and the Carousel of Progress.

It was really hot, and the kids started requesting ice cream. My daughter and I had just finished a huge meal and dessert, so we weren't hungry but we stopped in Tomorrow land to get some ice cream. My 4yo wanted this lemonade popsicle thing and I really didn't think he was going to like it, so I was trying to discourage him. Finally I was like whatever, he can get what he wants lol. Surprisingly, he LOVED that lemonade thing! But he refused to bite it, only wanted to lick it, and it was taking him a life time to eat it. We couldn't go on any rides until he finished it, but we noticed that Buzz Lightyear was out for a meet and greet so we thought maybe we could just stand in line while we waited for my son to finish his popsicle.

It was a long wait. But he worked on that popsicle most of the wait so at least we felt like we were being productive while we waited. Buzz took a break while we were in the line, but once he came back out it started moving pretty quickly.

My 2yo was getting tired, and cuddling me while we waited. It was nap time by that point!
UNADJUSTEDNONRAW_thumb_2279.jpg

Finally we made it to Buzz!! My 4yo had a Buzz Lightyear shirt on, and Buzz really liked it. He also really liked my husband's Too Tall to Ride shirt!
PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_7900828493web.jpg

I don't know why my parents didn't join the picture! But they were there too. :) I love this picture with my 4yo leaning all casually on Buzz, lol.
PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_7900828495web.jpg

It was probably a 30 minute wait but I'm so glad we did it! I noticed not long after this that Buzz was gone, and Toy Story is my 4yo's favorite so I'm just glad he got a chance to meet him.

That's it for tonight! Thanks for reading!

I love how much the kids love the speedway! I know there are rumors now that it will close for the land to be used for something(s) new - but personally I'd rather it just be updated with new technology rather than removed

Sorry about the issues on BTMRR! Definitely not an easy situation when your child is upset and you are just trying to get out of the situation and the CM yells at you (I am sure they just really need to be sure people don't go in that door but I am also sure there was a more "magical" way to get that point across!)

I have the same thing with my kids and the "scary" Haunted Mansion (and I get the tight space for the stretching room when you go in unsure only adds to that) and I try to explain to them about how it is "fun scary" not "scary scary" - it helps some and usually by the end they are all "That's it? That wasn't scary!"

You are correct that they use the info on your magic bands to put your personal information into the attractions. They have that on some other rides too (end of Small Work they have screens with personal good byes, similar on the exit of Space Mountain). That's also how they know what car you are in on Mine Train for the videos included in Memory Maker if you get that.

What a great idea to do a mother/daughter lunch at CRT! We've only eaten there once but I remember when we revealed it to my daughter she just was blown away by the concept that we were going to eat in the Castle. It can be hard to get them to actually eat at character meals though! Very cute interaction with both Aurora and Jasmine!

Glad you had a fun meet with Buzz - I know that was one we did one trip on a whim and turned out to be one of our best meets! Love the family picture with him and, as you pointed out, your son just leaning on him like they are old friends

I hadn't heard the rumors about the speedway, that's a bummer! It's not one of my favorite rides, but the kids do enjoy it.

I didn't even notice the It's a Small World good bye! And I went on the ride twice, lol. Man I'm not very observant!

We loved the Buzz meeting too. Always a favorite for us!

Thanks for reading!

Your TR is getting me so excited for my trip -- and oh, man! Tomorrowland Speedway! The kids always think it's the greatest thing but it is literally my least favorite ride in all of Disney. If it was done with electric cars I don't think I would be as bothered but it's always hot in the sun and all of the diesel exhaust fumes make me want to throw up by the time I'm done with it. We watched some Disney planning videos last night to get C even more excited about the trip, and he lit up at the TS clip asking if he will be able to go on it. I'm like...sure....with Daddy!! :rolleyes2

Just read through the whole report!! Looks like such a wonderful vacation! Sorry about the tantrums :( super sweet about the nice moments though like your 7yo saying it was the best day ever. So awesome you were able to get in the CRT lunch with just DD - definitely nice to have that special time with her, and it looks like it was really great! (And loved the lunch on Tom Sawyer Island idea, too, for the boys!!).

Edited to add - I loved your Disney bounding outfits too, your Aurora shirt is so cute!

Lol yeah it's not one of my favorites but I enjoy it enough. We went early in the morning during our extra magic hour so the heat didn't bother me. Maybe try a morning ride?? When is your trip?

So awesome you were able to get in the CRT lunch with just DD - definitely nice to have that special time with her, and it looks like it was really great! (And loved the lunch on Tom Sawyer Island idea, too, for the boys!!).

Edited to add - I loved your Disney bounding outfits too, your Aurora shirt is so cute!

It was a wonderful vacation, tantrums and all! Honestly tantrums are just my life with 4 young (highly sensitive) children and it is what it is! I could have left the tantrums out of the trip report but that wouldn't have been very honest. ;) Thank you for reading!

We will be there on the 22nd to the 27th, with MK days on the 25th and 27th! I am a major early bird on vacation so an early morning ride may just be the ticket!

Magic Kingdom day 2: Part VI

Hello! I'm getting towards the end of my trip report and I'm super sad about it! Writing up the trip report has really helped me stay connected to Disney and less depressed about the trip being over. Time to start planning the next trip, I guess! ;)

After we left Buzz Lightyear, we noticed that the Carousel of Progress was just letting people in so we dashed over to catch the next show. I love me some Carousel of Progress! Does anyone still remember the old song??! Sometimes I'll randomly start singing it even though it's been years since they even played it. "Now is the time, now is the best time, now is the best time of your life!" I prefer the new song though. :)

My 2yo was apparently wiped out from the long day and COP was a good place for a nap.

We stopped for a quick bathroom break after the ride, and then we stopped into a souvenir shop because my 7yo really wanted some sort of Tomorrowland souvenir. Unfortunately, he couldn't find anything that he really liked. But my 4yo bought a brand new Buzz Lightyear toy! I was excited for him, because he already had a Woody toy in the car that he got for his birthday last year. He was way into Woody last year! Then my 2yo latched onto this smaller Buzz toy, that when you squeezed the legs together it had these light up things that spun around his head. Not usually the type of souvenir I would buy, but he really liked it and he hadn't picked out anything else he wanted yet.

After shopping, we swung into Monster's Inc Laugh factory. It was cute, my 7yo really liked the jokes and Rozz.

We were getting to the point where we didn't have much left on our to-do list. It was hot and busy, and my mom and I wanted to do some shopping. We headed down Main Street and veered off on one of the quiet side streets. We staked out a table and chairs and set my husband and little boys up with their new toys and snacks there. The rest of us went to do a little shopping.

I walked around for a while but there just really wasn't anything I wanted. We had some money left on our gift card (that was our souvenir money) and my son really wanted a Zurg toy so he could play with the 4yo, and my daughter wanted a stuffed Marie to go with her stuffed Lady, so I agreed to let them buy those. We finished off the gift card, I think I had to pay like 65 cents. I joked to my kids that we were now officially out of money, lol.

We went back to the little side street with my husband and little boys. My husband was feeling stressed because the 4yo kept dropping Buzz on the ground and he didn't want it to break. As we were standing around talking, we suddenly heard some beautiful singing from up above us. We looked up and on the second level there was a window with a sign that said "Singing Lessons"! We could hear a woman inside singing scales. It was such a cool experience! I wish I had taken a picture of the window, just to hold onto the memory. :)

It was around 4:30 at this point so we decided we should go get an early dinner. We had FP+ for Splash Mountain at 5:30. We had no dinner plans so we decided to wander over towards Frontierland, since that was our next stop, and decided to eat lunch at Pecos Bill's. I've never been there before and it was really good! I loved the churros for dessert.

5:30 rolled around and we headed for Splash Mountain. We had a FP for my 4yo, but with his aversion to rides he had been having all day we asked him if he wanted to go and he really didn't want to so we left my mom with the two little boys.

I haven't been on Splash Mountain in years! I had forgotten how much I loved the ride and how great the theming is. Also, it's such a long ride! My 7yo insisted that he was going to be in the front seat and so my husband volunteered to sit with him. They got completely drenched!! One side of my body got pretty wet, but not as bad as those 2.

We had a couple random girls in back of us making hearts lol. We're in the front 3 rows! I love all of our faces here!

After Splash Mountain, we were all feeling completely spent. MVMCP was starting at 7 and it was around 6 at this point. We had rider swap tickets but nobody wanted to go again so we gave them to some other people.

We started heading back towards Main street, and there was a random parade going on so we got trapped! I'm assuming it had something to do with MVMCP. I was tired but still buzzing on Disney energy so I was carrying my 2yo (because he had been screaming bloody murder in the stroller because he wanted mama) and we danced together down Main street. Even though we were sort of trapped, I was still happy and enjoying my last Disney moments.

We got lucky and the parade ended right when we reached Main street so we were able to cross. I had some snack credits left and 1 random TS credit left so I decided to hit the bakery to use those up and get some treats to go. My 7yo went with me. We just barely beat the parade crowd and jumped in line right away.

I caused all sorts of problems in the line, because somehow (I honestly can't imagine how this happened) we actually had 1 TS credit left AND 1 QS credit left. I know why we had the TS credit left, but it makes no sense that we would have a QS one. We used 5 credits every time we went out to eat and we ate out 4 times. But anyhow, because I didn't know we had that one left, the CM thought she screwed up and used the QS credit when I wanted the TS credit so she went through this big ordeal to switch it. Then I figured out what the confusion was, so I was like well I might as well get more fudge and cookies using that QS credit because we're leaving the park right now so she went through that whole hassle for nothing. Anyway, I apologized profusely for creating more work for her. I had really held up the line and I felt so bad about it! But I left with a big bag full of fudge, Mickey gingerbread cookies, and Mickey cake pops for the kids. Yummmmm!

At that point, everyone was tired of waiting for us so they all headed out of the park except my husband, who stayed behind to tell me. We walked down Main Street and right at that moment, Elsa was preparing to light up the castle. So we were standing near the tree and I grabbed my 7yo's arm and told him we HAD to stay and watch. (Another moment of "I wish I had taken a picture!!") But it was truly magical watching the castle light up and I cheered and felt tearful. It was the perfect last moment.

So that's all I will write for now, I'll be back to wrap things up and maybe include a few pictures from our beach adventure we had after leaving Disney. :)
