DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Speaking of work, just saw on the news that SpaceX got a successful launch off. Big news here as it's carrying the first four (I believe) of my company's satellites. Once they're all in place, we should never have a lost airliner again as we'll provide global "radar" coverage. (The actual term is ADS-B. Automatic Detection Surveillance Broadcast.) Right now, radar is line of sight. Planes go too far and they disappear. That'll soon be a thing of the past, world wide.
Whoa! Cool!

... and Crash now has a car...
When you put it that way...

I almost forgot about that nickname. She's gone through so many over the years.

Had a tooth pulled this morning. What a great start for the day.

Been a pretty good weekend here. We travelled about 60 miles up river for another basketball tournament yesterday and today and DS and his buddies came through with another banner, going undefeated again this weekend. They played two games yesterday and won both relatively easily. The semi-final this morning was against our cross-town rival. Game started at 9:30 and finished close to noon, double overtime 106-101 win. Second time in a week they beat them in overtime.

The final was a bit anti-climatic with a 20 point win that wasn't ever really in doubt after a 20-5 start to the game.

This evening DW was checking on the flights we have booked for the March trip and they were cheaper than when we booked. Thanks to Southwest's simple to use change policy we now have $350 in credits!!

That is a good weekend. Congrats to declan and the wife for $$$ savings.

Nice little car. Do you fit in it? ;)

Congrats to the pirate princess!

Thanks. Congrats to Andrianna on her new car.

Congrats to the PP and well done Dad

Congrats to the PP on the new wheels. Is that her first one? I remember my first car, and it was NOWHERE near as nice as that.

... and Crash now has a car...

Congrats to DD. It looks like a nice little car. Like Dan said, definitely a step up form my first car, too!

Thanks, it is a nice car. Part birthday present part from some money her mom left her. It is surprisingly OK inside I just wouldn't want to be in the back seat. I rented a newer model for the Disney trip and it drove well and was comfortable. As I dropped it off, I started thinking maybe? She picked me up and liked the look of it so I started to look around. It was a good deal even though I probably gotten another color for a couple of hundred less. But the color fits her personality.

A much better first car than mine was. A 1980 Ford Pinto, 4 speed manual and no air-conditioning. Loved that car.

That is so cool. I'm a space nut and watch as many launches/landings as I can.

Morning gents. Gonna be... interesting today.

Popping the popcorn now. Hope you come through without too many injuries.

Nice teaser. Look forward to the update.

Was a non-issue.
I was asked to see the training specialist. She's fairly new. I thought "Is she going to tell me how to train? Or what a trainee feels like?"
I've been the trainee (with my current employer) 8 times and have had over a dozen trainees over the course of 25 years.

Wasn't sure what she thought she could tell me.

But it was fine. She wanted to know how the trainee was doing.
Short 5 minute meeting.

I was going to copy over the SpaceX press release, but... it's a pdf file.
The launch is currently on their youtube account.

See previous post.

C'mon guys, pile in. Mine was a battered ford escort mk 2 with a small "sports" steering wheel and recarro seats.
Absolute death trap. Loved it.

OK, I'll bite. Mine was a Pontiac Sunbird, I can't remember the model year exactly but maybe 1992, it was 4 years old when I got it in university. Not a terrible car, but highway driving was interesting, up to 90 km/hr it was OK, once it hit 100 km/hr it shook like a son of a gun, push her up to 120 km/hr and it was fine again. Was OK for about a year then the bottom fell out of her. Cylinder head gasket blew, AC died, started making a screeching noise. I nearly had to pay someone to haul it away but managed to sell it eventually, presumably for the parts that still worked on her.

Welcome, pull up a chair and stay a while. Where are you from? Any trips planned?

Well, had a productive day (not for me but for my daughter). She got a car. Put it together over the last couple of days including deciding what car, price and where we were going to buy it. It was a good deal but I could have gotten it for maybe a $200 less. We didn't walk because she liked the color. A Nissan Versa.

Congrats to her! Looks like a nice little ride. Plenty of places to hide a shiv.

Very cool. Like the other guys, I find this stuff fascinating.

Great game last night between the Cowboys and Packers. I did a lot of yelling at the TV and teh wrong team won but it was a fun game to watch.

That was a great game. I was pretty happy with the result, too.

I remember my first car, and it was NOWHERE near as nice as that.

I had a 1990 Chevy Corsica. Worked pretty well, for the most part. It just had a faulty paint job and the roof started peeling paint and then rusting. I sanded it off and covered it with spray paint. The spray paint was almost the right shade to match the rest of the car, too.

Morning guys. Up at 5 this morning waited to run some errands, just got off a conference call and off to Home Depot in a bit. Miles to go before I sleep.

Thanks, saw it. I could be wrong but this was their first launch since the one that blew up on the pad. Now that was something to watch.

Welcome. See you have a trip for September. Any plans made?

Congrats to her! Looks like a nice little ride. Plenty of places to hide a shiv.

She paid a little more and got the Shiv Lock Box accessory.

Happy Tuesday. Another day brings another dr appointment with youngest at pediatrician and me at my doctor, both for steroid shots. I'm ready to breathe again.

Sorry to hear about the tooth. My first car was a Toyota pickup, 5 speed manual rear wheel drive regular cab.

Welcome. Dues are payable in dole whips, bacon, beer, or cake. You send 831 of them to me, and I mail to all the rest of the guys. I see you have a trip in Sepetember. You planning to do a MNSSHP.

Nice. Do you fancy your chances against the falcons?
Plenty of places to hide a shiv.
The pre-requisite of any fine automobile.
'77 Mustang, metalic powder blue with a 2 tone white colored roof.
Mike wins. Even if it was a hairdressers colour :thumbsup2

Hope all is well in the house of airgoofy...

Bacon, pixie dust and general good vibes from over here. That is all.

Hello guys. Some of you may remember DD16 was going to audition to be Elsa with a local company that provides princesses for kids birthday parties. She had the audition Sunday, it went well, and she got the job today. She's not sure yet how much work it's going to be, but she's happy about it since it gives her some extra spending money. She also going to try keeping her part time supermarket job for now. I'm OK with it, but I just reminded her that school comes first, so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks. Just a bunch of sick people, and by sick, I mean a sinus infection, cold, or flu. Me, I'm just sick.

Congrats to DD. Is she rehearsing Let it Go for all those gigs? My oldest is great with little kids. My youngest isn't, and would probably throw cake at them. :lmao:
