We just booked the end of June exactly on the 7-month window! I woke up at 4:45, but it was totally worth it.

We will be spending three nights in Waikiki before heading to Aulani for a week in a Garden view studio. It will just be my husband and I on this trip (Yippee!!!) and are looking for adults-only things people would recommend in the Ko'Olina area. We will have a rental car, so something nearby will also work. We're looking for evening activities.

Next question: Not including Pearl Harbor, what was your absolute favorite adults-only excursion?

TIA~

By adult only, are you looking for places that don't have kids? We've gone to Oahu every year for the past 11 years, and I can't say I've come across any of those.

Ko Olina is VERY small. There is a golf course though across the street, so probably a good bet for "adult only". Otherwise, the place is sort of crawling with little people :)

In my experience, Hawaii tends not to have "adults only" or events that cater mainly to adults. It’s probably the family-friendly places I’ve ever been. Even Pearl Harbor has are tons of children running around and the audio tours have a children’s version that explains what they’re seeing in more simplistic terms. And, as previously stated, Ko’olina is small. Also, it might be good to consider the fact that you’ll already be staying in the Ko’olina area when you go to Aulani, so exploring things that are in and around Honolulu would probably be better use of your time while staying in Waikiki. Really, you don’t even need a car if you’re doing the standard things like the Kamehameha Statue, Iolani Palace, Bishop Museum (the #1 bus drops you off 1.5 blocks away), etc.

I'm not trying to avoid kids, I'm just curious what recommendations people would make considering we won't have the kids with us.

Thanks for your comments!

We just got back after 6 nights over Thanksgiving and there were 7 adults in my extended family + two kids (5 & 6). It's good you rented the car. We covered a lot of ground among the group but my personal favorites were the drive out to Kualoa Ranch and taking the premier movie sites tour ( in a Mercedes sprinter - omg!!!). WE also loved Driving to the North Shore. Hiking Diamond head and eating at a few local spots including sampling the shave ice from Uncle Clay's House of pure Aloha.

My adult children (late 20's early 30's) took daily scenic drives on their own, sampling food and checking out overlooks, beaches and historic towns throughout Oahu. Even managed to meet up with friends for happy hour in Waikiki.

We just returned from our honeymoon. As mentioned, there's nothing really in Ko Olina. We did love the North Shore area and that would be fun to visit with no kids since there's a few restaurants and stores that kids probably wouldn't care for. We also did the premier movie sites tour at Kualoa Ranch which was awesome. On that side of the island, we also visited Kailua and the Byodo-In Temple which was beautiful.
